Will Rob Stadler Follow Steve & Vikki?

I know he's still under contract with Star 94. But, Rob Stadler is so good. And he's a bit underutilized at Star. Does anyone think he might join his former team at some point?

B98.5 fired Kelly and Alpha's newsreader, Christy Henry, a few months ago. Marjorie Davis is doing the news for both B98.5 and Kiss 104.1 simultanously. Unless Rob can do news for at least three stations at the same time, I don't see it.

However, be could be a great asset at WSB-AM. They could team him up with Scott Slade, get rid of the other two newsreaders (Bob Coxe and Marcy Williams), and promote it as "Atlanta's Morning News with Rob and Scott" (or vice versa). Add some light banter (although keeping it professional), and it could make for an interesting program.

Brilliant idea. Mess with the number one rated morning show in the market.

Jal41 has some apparent vendetta against any Cox station. Not sure why...

For all we know, Rob's happy at Star. I guess we'll find out if I'm wrong, though.

I haven't seen any vendetta against Cox from Jal's posts.

As far as how happy Rob is, we don't know. But I've always considered him an integral part of the S&V show.

I have no vendetta against Cox, nor anyone else. There are certain things about any company that need to be discussed (Cox, Clear Channel, or otherwise). Cox seems to the best company of those we have around here in terms of retention and ratings, but there are some things that I point out that could be changed to make things better (i.e. issues with small playlists).

The fact is Cox fired Christy Henry as a way to save money, and they admitted it. I don't even think they have part time fill-in DJ's anymore for any of their stations. That leads me to believe what I said earlier. Hopefully, Cox will hire Rob to do news for both B98.5 and possibly the River if he decides to leave Star 94. Most likely, he is just going to ride out his contract with Star, but that is just speculation. We will find out in due time what he will do.

Rob's talent is SO wasted on Star94. If he could work with Steve & Vicki on B-98, and maybe do a weekend shift on WSB-AM, I think he'd do it for a good amout of money. It definitely would be worth it to Cox to pursue that.

and what about Sunday? who needs time off, anyway?

Give me a break, Romer! He does NOT have to get up a 3:00 am ALL seven days. He could take three or four midday shifts on
the weekend. You are still part-time with all those hours.

Thanks, Tibbs, for your support. I did mean only one weekend DAY (Saturday or Sunday- does that clarify things!?). From what I hear, Cox has very few full timers. It would be smart to have them get Stadler full time some how.

Why?

Rob is under contract at Star 94 until the end of 2008, but don't be surprised to see him move to WSB AM or FM in the future.

Rob and the former traffic guy on the Morning Mess, Dan Blankowski, were FAR more professional than the rest of the crew, and their talents were WASTED on a station hosted by a guy who has never read a book in his life (Marco).

Dan was smart enough to get out with his reputation intact, and don't be surprised to see him back at WSB (or with Steve & Vikki) in the future, but poor Rob is stuck until the end of '08 (not sure if there's a non-compete).

Rob does a GREAT job with the news ... and can write for ANY demographic ... so he'll be fine ... I hope!

Ditto on Dano, he got out ahead of the implosion.

He is actually in a unique position in that he does not NEED radio work. He only takes what he wants, when he wants as his DJ biz does very well.

He is also very friendly and personable, a joy to be around!
