WILL YOU CONTINUE TO WATCH 2 1/2 MEN ?

I could care less as I don't watch anyway, but here's the TV-Guide question and poll.

Will you still watch Two and a Half Men after all the Charlie Sheen drama?

67% Yes, the show' still great
28% No, his troubles overwhelm the fun
5% I'll watch if he cleans up

COMMENT: judging from this, the show is bound to take a hit.

I was barely watching the show already.
If it gets my attention, I watch it, if not, oh well.
Who cares who's there or not.

Then again, how did Laverne and company do back in the day without Shirley?

Laverne did about as well as The Ropers did when they left Three's Company. Or when they tried to spin-off Jack Tripper into Three's A Crowd when Three's Company wrapped. Come to think of it, all of these were ABC shows, Laverne included, and all of them were failures.

The show is hardly on my 'must-see-TV' list, but I probably watch it 4 or 5 times a year, and laugh, despite myself. I'll still watch. Sheen's personal problems are his own - he's no doubt hurt his loved ones like all addicts, but it's not like he's done anything reprehensible.

I really dont get why people are so concerned with someone else's personal life...
I think the tabloids and entertainment shows are more "concerned."
Most people who will watch the show, at some point, a thought about him in a hotel room, scratching a hooker or whatever he did [or whatever they can make up for kicks to amuse themselves], will happen while they are watching. And that will affect how they watch the show. They won't be able to turn off "what they know about his personal life" and separate it from "what they know about the show." It's just human nature. Not everyone compartmentalizes everything in well-defined, restrictive contexts, nor do they pretend to.

Never really cared for the show myself I remeber when the show first went on the air it was the last show on the CBS Monday night slot. I think Everybody Loves Raymond, Still Standing, and The King of Queens were on the air. Yes Dear I think was funnier so underated. I like Greg thinking hes the perfect man and Jimmy laid back and lazy. Great Show. As far as Charlie Sheen him not on the show will hurt the ratings

Sheen is back on the show. They stopped production, so it's like he never left. The question really is "will you look at the show differently now, in light of Sheen's antics, or will you just not look at all?"

Nope becasue he always been crazy so it wont really matter espically after the whole christmas drama a year ago between his wife

Just to avoid needlessly slagging off Normal Fell and Audra Lindley ("The Ropers") the spin-off was done against their will. The Roper analogues from the original British series had their own show after the original wrapped. The American producers bought the rights to that show as well and thought lightning could strike twice. Neither actor wanted to leave the show, but their contracts allowed the producers to spin them off at will.

There was a handshake agreement that if the spin-off was cancelled, the Ropers would be invited back to "Three's Company," but by the time the show died its agonizing, deserved death, Don Knotts was such a hit that they just cut the Ropers loose.

If one "could care less" it means there's a capacity for less interest..i.e., someone who could care less does care. :D

As long as the show remains funny I will watch it. However I have to wonder if Jon Cryer is updating his resume' just in case Charlie crashes again and CBS finally pulls the plug on Two and a Half Men.

Interesting that someone mentioned Laverne and Shirley. I always thought that Cindy Williams was smart to leave when she did. It must have given Williams some self-satisfication that the show's ratings dropped after she left considering that at the time she and Penny Marshall were reportedly not getting along. Also Penny's brother was a top executive of the show and Williams reportedly felt that both Marshalls' were ganging up on her by giving Penny more air time and funnier lines.

I find this whole situation absolutely hilarious. TAAHM is basically a made-for-tv series about Charlie's life. Its a show that not only makes fun of the way he lives his life, but it glorifies it too.

Will these troubles make me stop watching? No way. If anything, knowing that the story on the show closely resembles his life makes the show even funnier. With that said, we can't glorify that lifestyle with a number 1 rated sitcom and then all thumb our noses when it turns out to be reality.

I'm just trying to stick to the topic. I already know how you feel about me.....and I could care less.
This thread is not about "your feelings of gregg75 and your interpretation of his tought processes" even though some would like to turn it into that.

I was waiting for somebody to bring that up. Charlie Harper drinks like a fish, sleeps around with any attractive woman, and lives a hedonistic life. There are a couple of differences - Harper apparently doesn't do drugs, and Sheen is wealthier. But to object to the show because Charlie Sheen leads a hedonistic life is kind of ironic, don't you think?

But if the show is only "kind of hedonistic" and the real life is "wantonly hedonistic" somewhere in there there is room for objections, for most people.
Life might imitate art, and art might imitate life, but not everyone wants to see a train wreck, or an elephant pooping.

But the viewers aren't seeing a "train wreck" because Sheen appears to come to work sober - at least he reads his lines without slurring his words, and there are no reports that he has acted out on the set, or acted badly toward his co-workers.
