Will Z100 Bring In Ryan Seacrest?

There's already similar threads on several boards for other markets, so I'll pose this question here:

What are the odds that Ryan Seacrest's Clear Channel-syndicated show makes its way to Z100?

I would imagine it would be carried in evenings or possibly overnights, just for clearance purposes.

We all remember when Lite-FM had Delilah jammed down their throats from corporate, don't we?

I think it's designed more for smaller markets.
If Z-100 does start carrying it, I vote for the coveted 2-5 AM timeslot ;D

Kidd Kraddick in the Morning had similar origins. It started at KHKS-FM Dallas and is now syndicated to smaller markets. However because of Ryan Seacrest's large popularity Clear Channel may try to target larger markets. It could also be a cost cutting move. Morning shows in big markets cost a lot of money because there is a lot of money to be made. If Ryan can bring in the ratings to WHTZ and any other big market station the way he does over at KIIS, Clear Channel could be poised to save a lot of money.

Apparently, his show is being carried in San Francisco and Denver, among other top markets...

Granted, at least Seacrest has more radio experience than Whoopi.

Z100 would be the logical choice to carry Seacrest, or possibly WKTU. I can't see him being heard on Lite-FM - that would be suicide (Seacrest currently airs on "The Coast" WSNE in Providence).

NO comparison of Ryan's talent and Whoopi's - Whoopi made a HUGE effort, but she was CLEARLY out of her league - Ryan IS legitimate with LEGITIMATE radio experience and talent, period!!

And let's not forget that most folks outside of L.A. associate Seacrest with his work on television (namely, American Idol). Whoopi also made a name for herself on TV and movies, so in that vein, one would compare the two. But the key to having a successful syndicated program is having prior experience in one market first. Whoopi was just handed a show like she knew what she was doing.

What????
Shelley is a genuine talent and part of what makes Z-100 sound so good.

I'm pretty disappinted in the fact that stations like Kiss FM Chicago and Z-100 New York are giving over certain dayparts for this.
It's not like Howard Stern where you heard him live in mornings on all the stations that carried him, where he really takes listeners calls from all over the country, and makes radio fun.
The Ryan Seacrest syndicated show isnt bad, but its nowhere nearly as entertaining as hearing him live on KIIS-FM in the morning.

Z-100 already has a super top notch morning show, one that is actually piped to other stations around the country. Therefore, I really dont think carrying Seacrest's daily syndication will strengthen WHTZ's position..
Then again, I have been known to be wrong before. Ryan's show doesnt sound half bad on Toronto's new 99.9 Virgin Radio in the evenings. Maybe, just maybe, there's a chance it can excite some of the mid-day morning listeners of the NYC area.

10am on the East Coast is 7am on the West. If listeners call the national line (that he gives out on both shows), they'll be able to participate in both shows, potentially. While it's not real-time, it's close.

And keep in mind how little of your audience actually calls in to a show. The idea is for it to be entertaining. Listeners don't care how "local" it is.

Shelley has just announced on air, that starting Monday she will move to the pre-morning show, and Ryan will be on at 10am :(

Hey - can I call 'em or what?

Then again, even Stevie Wonder saw this coming...

Isn't Shelly Wade simulcast into Boston in the same daypart? Will Seacrest be headed for Beantown, too?

[EDIT]
The new lineup at Z100 is:

6-10a -- ELVIS DURAN & THE Z100 MORNING SHOW
10a-1p -- RYAN SEACREST
1-6p -- JJ KINCAID
6-10p -- ROMEO ON THE RADIO & NIKO
10p-2 -- JOE ROSATI
2-5a -- SHELLY WADE
5-6a -- GREG T - BEST OF ELVIS DURAN & THE Z100 MORNING SHOW

This just reeks! But you just knew it was about to happen...it was sweeping the nation west to east, just started in Boston I believe...best wishes to Shelly: thanks for 7 great years in middays @ Z100!

From what I've heard, the Seacrest syndicated show is a pre-packaged affair of previously recorded interviews & other "general" segments that originally ran on Seacrest's KIIS-FM L.A. morning show & could be run at any time in the syndicated format.

Correct, but the vast majority are from that morning. With the time difference, you're talking about a 30 minute (however long it takes them to edit it down and send it) difference between when it airs on KIIS, and when it would air on Z100. If they were airing it in afternoons, it would be more delayed. But not if the show is going to air at 10am local time.

Not to mention, I would imagine that Ryan will be doing a LOT of custom work for Z100 to have agreed to take this on.

I guess that "custom work" would included hosting the "High Noon Countdown". That, according to the FMQB article, will be one of his tasks.

What a stupid, stupid decision from the world famous Z100!! Ryan Seacrest isn't from NYC, he is not in NYC when he do his show, it's not live, and most important: he's f-ing boooorrring on radio...! Good job Cheap Channel...not!

Ryan Seacrest: CHR disease.

Tom Kent: classic hits disease.

It's spreading. Overnights were lost some time ago,
evenings are now being lost, middays appear to be next.
Can PM drive be far behind?

A year from now, your typical CBS and Cheap Channel
music station--if it isn't already--will be something like:

"Beth and Bill in the morning, and voicetracking all day!" ::)

Seacrest is just another CC corporate mandate just like that loser Carson Daly that was shoved down all our throats a few years back. He will be on all CC Top 40 stations, they had to come up with a way to pay his salary at KIIS. This too shall pass.
