WIOD is on 100.3

To steal a line from Classical South Florida: On Air, On Line, On Now.
Transmitter has been on and off all day and night.
W262AN is listed as having a CP to relocate to channel four's old tower on Hallandale Beach Blvd..

The Reach station for Tamarac which has really been near Griffin Rd and SW 130'th ave for quite a while is history.
The FCC info lists the new station as translating WIOD.
We predict that full power second adjacencies will eventually be allowed but "the man" will maintain restrictions on LPFM's.

Might CC put WIOD on 100.3 in the northern Keys? Thunder Country is cheap to run, but the signal covers South Miami decently...

I guess, technically, the translator is NOT rebroadcasting 610AM. Legally, it's rebroadcasting the 105.9 HD-2. Wouldn't that be the case?

Yes, that wouldn't be the case, as 100.3 is in sync with 610 but 105.9 is delayed by just over four minutes, also 100.3 does not have the digital anomalies that 105.9 does. How and why they achieve that delay shall remain a mystery.

Knowing Clear Channel, If the breaking news actually isn't they have that 4 minutes to change their minds and unbreak it and we won't know the difference.

Unless of course we were listening to it live on 610 and switched over to 105.9 HD-2 to make sure we didn't hear what we thought we did.

Simple! ;D

Stuart,

Was 940 in the same building as I95. If so, what was it like having a N/T station in the same building (I would imagine back then, a large staff for the AM) I also remember Frank Motec? doing a news update on 96x at three in the morning. I thought that was different.

Why am I so interested in a station I never listen to?
Memories of WCKR?
I heard a newscast today and was appalled by the loud sounders behind every story.
People actually like that noise?
At least it was pristine analogue FM.

Yes, I-95 and 940 AM were in the same building which still stands but vacant for a number of years at 4330 NW 207 Drive in beautiful Carol City. I-95 was on the west end and 940 was on the east. The only action that place has now I believe is when the engineers work on the still housed at that site AM Transmitters. Frank Mottek and Carolyn Zabel both did the news at 96X and traded off taping a basic/generic overnight newscast.

Another stupid move - adding tag lines to traffic and news liners promoting that they are on 100.3FM when you can't pick it up in most of their listening area!

Either they have yet to move or they are flip flopping, but when they do finalize things, 100.3 will cover Dade County north of Flagler St plus most of Broward County and that is those are a lot of people.

I'm gonna take a guess:

The translator will cover a good part of Broward. Take WCTH move it closer to South Miami. Agree to accept any mutual interference (CC does own Y-100). Lower power and or height to resolve any other co-channel issues, and Tah-dah you have simulcast without adjusting any other CC properties.

It will also make this a more valuable property. However, don't know how this would fit in with the aloha trust issues. Don't know what CC station counts are.

...this...
An ambiguous pronoun when so many stations were inumerated. Also, does CC own WKIS? They might be short spaced, too ???

WKIS is owned by Beasley (WQAM & WPOW).

If WCTH decides to simulcast WIOD to add coverage, that could help. CC just has to be sure that there is no "echo" effect. As to the country music fans, CC owns WKEZ 96.9 & WFKZ 103.1 in Plantation Key, and although they are lower power, could fill the need. They could drop the format on one of them.

Also, in a similar vein, I have no idea the status of 97.7 in Marathon. If they upgrade to 100 kW (which I think has been approved), there's a station that can cover all the Keys. (Last I knew, they temporarily ran parallel 98.7 WCNK Conch Country in Key West, but they cover Marathon well enough.) Any idea about the 97.7?

cd

WKEZ is no longer a issue. It was sold along with WKEY in Key West. (both Aloha Trust stations)

So they are no longer CC? I thought they were on www.keysradio.com

As to WKEY & WKEZ's music----what in the world do you CALL that? Light AAA? <shrug> I loved WKEZ when they were Easy 96.9.
