What a morning for skip. KITE-FM from Victoria took over 93.3 this morning. Nowhere to be found was KQBU. It was clear as a bell, without any drop offs. I also heard a station called "106.9 The Rock". At first, I thought "Oh my God, Cox has finally done something." Minutes later I was disappointed, as the Point fought it's way back on the frequency. Pretty good classic rock station, a little rough on the overall presentation, but definitely a step up from what's on our 106.9. It ID'ed itself as another Victoria station. With the power that KHPT puts into the Heights on a normal basis, I found this hard to believe that "The Rock" would be capable of drowning out "The Point". If only it were permanent...but que sera sera. Fooling around with the radio a little more, I found 97.7 with Tejano music being distorted by the Box, 98.3 with country music, 101.7 simulcasting KEYH 850 here in Houston, and 102.5 which id'ed itself as KMKS-FM Bay City.
