WJBR sold to VCY???

I'm listening via Alexa and they just ID'd as WBEN-HD2 before the usual WJBR ID's. Two questions: I thought what's running on 95.7 HD2 is separate from what's on 99.5 FM? And didn't the calls officially change today?

EDIT: I guess my main question here is whether Alexa is playing what's going out on 99.5 FM or what's being fed to 95.7 HD2. Ironically, for a radio geek, I don't currently have a receiver connected to an antenna, so I can't pick up WJBR's OTA here.

What I'm hearing on the WJBR website is what listeners in Delaware are hearing over the air.

Justin got really emotional during the last few minutes.

Yeah, and they pocket some spare change for a non-strategic asset that isn’t likely to appreciate in value anytime in the near future. If someone wants to pony up the cash for another hanger-on in their poetfolio, maybe they can play Let’s Make a Deal.

Morning hosts just wrapped up and bid farewell, went in to Separate Ways by Journey (how fitting)

And didn't the calls officially change today?
When a call letter change is filed in association with a sale, the new call letters do not take effect until the closing. 10/4 was just the expected date.

In South Bend IN, where VCY just closed on its purchase of 106.3 WUBU, the station has gone silent for a bit.

The hosts ended the show by saying "Good morning, mayonnaise" for the last time.

Immediately before the hosts said their goodbyes, they played "With Arms Wide Open" by Creed.

Hopefully WJBR will go silent for a few days. When VCY took over 104.3 in Vegas from Ed Stolz, the station was silent for a few days before VCY’s programming started. When Ed Stolz regained control of 104.3 from VCY, it was silent for 2 months.

Welp, the morning show is over and the station is still playing adult contemporary music.

EDIT: And Mike Rossi is on! Interesting.

Okay, there is one, small, tiny detail that I am most interested in... and if this is being rehashed, I apologize...

What is happening with the HD subchannel and its translator?

WJBR-HD2 currently broadcasts Maxima on 104.1 W281CM through Delaware and South Jersey (at least, I think it does; I don't have an HD receiver).

Is the station getting a new home on the HD dial or disappearing or going to VCY... or something else entirely?

Edit: I'm not sure if WJBR has an HD3... if so, it would be Gospel 100.7 W264BH out of Philly.

Depends on the terms of the lease of the HD channels. Maxima could very well stay on WJBR-HD2 for the duration of the lease they signed... or the lease could have said something like "if the station is sold to a new operator, the lease of the HD2 would be terminated" or something like that.

And Favor 100.7 in Philly WAS supposed to be on an HD side of WJBR, but hasn't been for a good long while. They've been programming directly to the translator illegally.

You're not reading the room. There are radio geeks here.
And? It’s a marvelous age where we can hear all kinds of things from all around the world. 🤷🏻‍♂️ That’s pretty good for all geeks.

I don’t care if they go off the air, they come back or move the transmitter to the moon. They can have at it and do whatever they need to do.
