WJEM AM 1150

WJEM and its translator are on. Current format is ESPN Radio with a decent amount of local content.

Superbowl weekend both were down due to a major STL failure (no backup plan in place at the time). Since then, we have a new STL and a backup plan.

Thanks for the WJEM stories, these are great! I knew Vern was still around, didn't know that JC had passed. I have him on a lot of reel-to-reel tapes I salvaged from the station.

What is STL? If i remeber before WJEM went to ESPN its was pertty good singal loud and clear if im not mistaking. When they used to be gopsel station.

STL is the studio to transmitter link, used to get the audio from one location to another.

J.C. Johnson died on March 5th, 2011. He was 77. Harvey Vernon Arnold is still kicking his heels high. He and Janiz are retired and living in Thomas County.
Seriously Jay, you need to consider writing all these stories down and start looking for a publisher. :D

Jay, I want a copy of the book. Get to work. This is better than Dallas on TV.

Jay, I agree with Bengalsfan and Steve. You are quite the storyteller, and what you have to tell
is captivating in the way you tell it.

I told somebody the other day that there were two problems with the book. First, more than a few folks will have to take their last ride or I'll get sued. Secondly, purchasers would need a forklift. The dang thing would weigh 150 pounds. Without any pictures!

Still, I appreciate the kind words.

Still trying to figure out which Valdosta AM is for sale "on 6 acres"... If it's not WJEM, then it almost has to be 810.

It seems like the 810 facility is on less than 6 acres, but that is thru 20 years of years. Your memory may vary. Seems like if Scott is doing reasonably well with 1150/96.1....that the choice would be further limited.

What is 810 doing for a format these days. I remember 810 signed on with an old BC1B back in the 80's, maybe early 90s, ran religion,(WAWB-WXLR) then ran a Soft Hit Favorites (WSHF) and then I lost track of it. It has a decent signal from what I remember.
