No need to look any further than WMBS in Uniontown. By far, the most listened to radio station in that community. Its so strong there, that its the reason it shows up in the Pittsburgh Arbitrons.

Realist as once again been defeated.....its a great day!

It so happened that I ended up driving around Uniontown a lot today. I thought I might check WMBS out, but I couldn't find it. I was in my car, so I didn't have access to any reference materials to look up their frequency. And using the "seek" button didn't lead me to any stations that sounded any different from any other stations. I guess the Uniontowners all have that station on preset buttons, and the folks running the station don't much care if tourists tune them in or not.

590, my goodness!

That information doesn't help me much now, does it?

That also explains why I could go from 88.1 to 107.9 without ever hitting it, doesn't it? I didn't realize that everyone in Uniontown has their radios set to the AM band.

They do advertise the station AND its frequency from the sign at their transmitter facility. Maybe it's not a big billboard drive, but it is something along a very high-traffic road.

Well, if they have all the listeners they want, and don't want to get any more, who am I to disagree with their marketing strategy?
