It was not my intention to attack any single person. My point was validated, business as usual and standard operating procedures from even a few years ago are archaic. However you look at it, things are never going to be the same again.
Using a sales example, if a sales person normally sold at a one-to-three ratio, or for every three demos one will be a sale. It's now is one-to-six, yes this is a hard pill to swallow. It means triple the rejection, double the work and if it normally took 50 hours it may take 80, and having skin made of leather. Frankly, that kind of work ethic and initiative is so rare today that many companies will fold because of that alone. If you think its tough today, wait till next year, hyper-inflation and double digit unemployment are on the way. Yes, the World is shifting under our feet and yes I do know what to do and how to cope. The benefit of what is happening today is the strong will survive and the weak will go elsewhere.
Certain principles will always endure, companies have gotten twisted around, focusing on bottom line over customers. That is backward, if it weren't so tragic it would be comical.
My point is companies continue to put into positions people who have all been cut from the same mold. Having a great deal of experience today may even be a liability, and can even work against you. It may be time as Peter Drucker pointed out to smash the system and start all over. The definition of insanity, continue to do the same things over and over and expect different results
