Of course, the WKNO facility has two towers, side by side -- a ~1000' tower, and one about half the height. I have climbed both, a little of the way up -- very easy to climb. I have even walked across the ice bridge, running antenna wire for ham radio Field Day (which scared me way more that climbing the towers).
On top of the lower tower is WKNO-FM. There is also some VHF utility stuff, a couple of ham radio repeaters, and the like.
The higher tower has quite a bit on it. FMs, from the bottom up:
WQOX
WKIM
WRVR
WXMX
WGKX
Also, there is the channel 10 transmitter, and the DTV on channel 29. After transition in February, there will be DTV on 10 & 29 from that tower.
There is also some VHF/UHF stuff, as well as a TV service meant for cell phones, which is a fairly large transmitter. I am told that the big tower is max-ed out. No more major antennas can be added.
Also, if you're ever near the towers, look for a wire running between the two towers at ~150'. That's a big HF wire antenna the engineer uses for ham radio. It works AWESOME.
