I checked Wickipedia last night (before it was blacked out!) and they had 101.7's website listed as www.myfroggy1049.com
So maybe a simulcast of WFKY 104.9 in Frankfort is in the works?

So maybe a simulcast of WFKY 104.9 in Frankfort is in the works?

Also Cumulus on 92.9.... That stations comes in well in Shelbyville. Plenty of country stations as it is haha

Doesnt WIKI in Carrolton call itself "Froggy" as well, might there be a lawsuit like the one we had here in Cincinnati a few years ago when two country station(WYGY and WSCH) both called "The Eagle" btw the way Entercom lost the battle with the small station in Aurora won!

They'd end up with a city grade contour that ended at the Jefferson county line, and a 1 mv contour that ended at Hurstbourne lane. They'd spend $250K or so and probably never get over a 1 share in the Louisville book to show for it.

My guess is that it can't move any closer to the 101.3 in Louisville. I'd have to believe that if anyone could have moved the signal closer to Louisville, they would have done it long ago.

Good point. Just because you can doesn't mean you would. I just remember the original separation between 101.3 (in Shelbyville) and 101.7 (off Taylorsville Road outside the Snyder) was greater than it is now with the Louisville antenna now located at the Kaden Tower. The Shelbyville antenna was simply co-located with the AM, so I never knew if there were other spacing restrictions. I guess I'm just trying to second guess why they would simulcast Froggy 104.9 instead of, say, the Timeless Cool format they have on their Frankfort AM.

My guess is that it can't move any closer to the 101.3 in Louisville. I'd have to believe that if anyone could have moved the signal closer to Louisville, they would have done it long ago.

If 101.3 is the only obstacle, they could move it some. I think the two are like 25 miles apart right now, and the minimum separation is 19. There may be ways to do a little better than that, but let's say they could move it 6 miles.

You'd come into the market as the 4th country station against a 30 year old class C1 (100KW) and a well established C2 (50KW) and a well established class A (3KW in the center of downtown).

And you'd be trying this with a 6KW class A 25 miles from downtown and hope you get your money back from the acquisition of property, building, utilities, tower, antennas, transmission lines, and possibly a new transmitter, processing, STL, and remote control with it.

Well you know... I think Froggy is doing well for them, and they come to Shelbyville for remotes and such. Shelbyville has no local radio presence other than WXLN-LP, so if they wanted to expand the footprint of Froggy and start doing local in Shelbyville, that could make a lot of sense for them. I've lived in Shelby county for 15 years, and there is a real connection between Shelby Co residents and Frankfort.

Shelby County businesses that want to advertise probably aren;t going to advertise on Louisville stations because it costs too much. But if Froggy becomes as local to Shelbyville as they are to Frankfort, suddenly Shelbyville has their radio station back. And Froggy has all the mom and pop ad dollars out of Shelbyville. Maybe that's a lot, maybe not that much, I don't know. But whatever is there now isn't being gotten by anybody.
