Actually the real blame goes to Congress. Call them and complain...

Congress has way more important things to do.

Don't waste my tax money on this, not even for one second's worth of hearings.

People have to stop expecting the government to fix everything they don't like.

If this is the biggest thing you have to worry about today, count yourself lucky.

They already wasted precious tax money on Tipper Gore's Music Censorship hearings back in the early 80s, and Prince Albert Himself was happily a part of it.

Titoisradio's idea doesn't sound like a bad one at all. It would certainly make things easier on a lot of people. Why not a little consideration?

Government is supposed to be "by the people." If the duties of our government don't include fixing things that need to be fixed, righting some wrongs, and correcting oversights, then just what the hell is government's duty? $600 toilet seats? Giving money to farmers not to grow anything? $2 million dollars to study the tse tse fly?

I guess some people want things to remain a mess. Let's not fix or improve anything. Wait a minute. That sounds like the present day Bush administration!

A--Men!

Too many people in this country are reminiscent of schoolkids running to the playground aide everytime something doesn't go the way they want.

The fact that people don't like the way a TV show sounds with replacement music dubbed in doesn't seem like it needs Congressional intervention. Let the market work that out; if a content producer wants to work that into the contract they negotiate, so be it.

Beware the laws of unintended consequences, especially when dealing with a bloated government that far exceeds its Consitutional authority. It's not as though Congress has a track record of making things better when they stick their nose in.

While as a general rule I agree with the above poster, there is far too much waste in government, it's not that easy.

For instance the nation pays farmers not to grow crops but this is for national defense. We need the land ready to grow food, just in case. No nation can afford to be at the mercy of foreign nations for it's food stuff. If we allowed farmers to fail they would sell their land and it would become developed or otherwised used. What if a major war broke out? The USA (and every nation) needs to be able to feed itself. We can go without Starbuck and computers but not food. So there is some rationale behind this.

Part of the problem is our system of is set up as federalism. The fact that Wyoming with just over 500,000 people gets the same number of senators as California with over 34 million people accounts for the disproportionate influence of agriculture and mining interest in congress.

No one cares about the half million people in Wyoming except them, so their senators will trade "favours" with those senators from California, Texas, NY and Florida "the big four and growing" states, to get things for their state. This accounts for the $600 toliet seats.

Now don't get me wrong I'm the first to cry out there is WAY to much government waste. Anyone who's dealt with the post office (yes I know it's not "officially" government but it's sill close enought), knows they do what the heck they want because they can.

Look at the glut of reality shows, brought on by actors and writers that have basically outpriced themselves.
