WKTK

Why does this station lean Classic Rock. Joan Jett, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Poison. Lynard Skynard, The Eagles all have songs in the Top 100 on yes.com. AC/DC also had "You Shook me all night long" on the Top 100 not too long ago too. I thought most AC's have stopped playing 70's, so why play 70's music that is already pounded to death on Classic and Active Rockers.

This sounds very weird next to an excessive burnout of Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye and every single from Adele other than "SkyFall". That and most of the Katy Perry and Gaga singles are pounded to death as well. That and all you typical AC songs from the last 5 years like "Pocket Full of Sunshine", "F***** Perfect", most of what Daughty has and so on. I also hate the fact that this station takes a song that a Hot AC has been burning out for 6 months and gives it even more burnout like the song was freaking new. Which is true of the songs mentioned above. Just because a station adds a new song to the play-list doesn't mean its new. Especially if CHR has had the song for 8 months and Hot AC has had the song for 6.

Ocala and Gainesville already have 3 stations playing Classic Rock. (Even if the stations are only Class A"s) That and in Gainesville you have 4 stations from Jacksonville you can pick up playing some form of Rock. One is an Adult Hits that leans Rock, 1 Classic Rocker, 1 Active Rocker and 1 Alternative Rocker.

This station my friend is programmed very poorly. However it is rated in the Top 5 in the Market so Entercom will probably never make any adjustments.

Sounds a lot like sister station Magic 98.9.

Entercom typically has some good AC stations, but Magic and WKTK are not among them.

My best guess with KTK could be that they are in a small market without many other choices, so they try to be everything to everybody.

That may be true, here are the formats covered in the Gainesville/ Ocala Market.

*Country, 4 Stations, 2 Full Market, 1 with a Good Signal in Ocala and so-so Gainesville signal. The last one barely covers G-ville and doesn't get close to Ocala.
*Classic Rock, 3 Stations (Each are simulcasted Class A's that cover particular market areas)
*News/ Talk, 2 stations, 1 Full-Market and another G-ville only
*Hot AC, 1 Station, Covers Ocala well and throws a Rimshot into Gainesville
*Oldies, 1, a LPFM that covers just Downtown Ocala, the previous full-market (Sort of) oldies flipped to Hot AC. Good news is that Ocala can pick up Sunny 105.9 from Orlando. Gainesville used to be able to pick up Magic 107.3 from Jacksonville.
*CHR, 1 station, It only covers Gainesville, Ocala can pick up a rimshot from WXXL/ Orlando.
*Hip-Hop- 1 station that covers Gainesville
*Active Rock- 1, covers Gainesville OK and Ocala barely, You can barely pick up the Active Rockers from Tampa and Orlando in Ocala. Plus Gainesville can pick up Rock 104-5 from Jacksonville.

Those are the stations we have, in Ocala you can pick up some of the Orlando stations with an OK signal. Particularly the ones that run off the Orange City Antenna Farm, like Sunny 105.9. In Gainesville you can get a rimshot from the Jacksonville Class C's.

Maybe the lack of a market wide Rock signal is forcing KTK to play some of this music.

Well if KTK was trying to be everything well than why not play some 80's and 90's music that has been neglected. Thats what Cox's AC stations like Magic 94.9 and B98.5 are doing. That and expand the musical offering from the last 10 years, including artists like KT Tunstall, Carly Rae Jepsen, Andy Grammer and Colbie Calliat.
