NJ101.5's core coverage area is Middlesex, Somerset, Union, Monmouth and Ocean counties. All are part of the New York television market. All were in the original 201 area code (not 609). Together, they would the 18th largest radio market (Larger than Nassau-Suffolk; slightly smaller than San Diego). Monmouth-Ocean is almost as large as all the remaining NJ markets combined. This is where most of New Jersey's population is. And this is where NJ101.5 gets the strongest audience shares - despite competition from New York stations.
Reception is spotty only in Bergen, Passaic and Sussex counties. NJ101.5 shows up in the New York ratings and puts a decent signal in Staten Island, Manhattan, and Brooklyn.
Of course, they'd LIKE to cover all of New Jersey. But the people who listen are mostly in North Jersey - past Exit 7.
