Hudson Valley WKZE

From the Kingston Freeman: Red Hook radio station WKZE to get new owners in March
I've never heard of them, but they look to have good coverage in the Kingston area on 98.1 and 105.9 with an Adult Album Alternative format, so I'll give them a listen!

There's a non-paywalled story with details, but unfortunately it's on a rival website to Radio Insight, so you'll have to find it for yourself. Hint: Google News.

Will Stanley has done a great job with that station. It's unique even for its format, and I hope the new owners can continue and grow it while retaining the character of what KZE is.

WKZE is being sold to Andy Gladding and Katie Berghorn, by current owner Barb Stanley Three and a half years after the death of her husband, Will Stanley. She is selling it to protect the stations independence, and the staff from large conglomerates, that have expressed interest in the station. No significant changes are expected . Although there was solicitations to subscribe I was able to read this Albany Times Union article without doing so. WKZE Red Hook To Be Sold

Andy is an engineer for Salem NYC and WRHU

My guess is WHVW or WCZX sold the CCA at some point. Radio stations sell their used transmitters all the time. The transmitter was then modified to run at 98.1 instead of 97.7 (possibly only very minor adjustments needed to be made to the transmitter to run comfortably at the new frequency, especially since the frequencies are so close). It's also possible that WHVW went on the air with a different transmitter before they bought the CCA in 1970. I don't know for sure, so I'm guessing.
