WLAN now calls itself "Central PA's Hit Music Station"

They are clearly moving away from the Lancaster branding. Is 99.3 Kiss-FM on its way out? The station has basically been on autopilot since the cuts.

LAN has always had the single to go after more than just Lancaster. York hasn't had a CHR since 98YCR went away and with some more marketing toward the white rose city and it could increase its share. Cumulus really blew this...a strong CHR on 1067 could have owned the market...yet they put on another country station that will impact IOV. Idiots.

The CHR format is funny. New ones tend to take a long time to grow into 25-54 dominance. Heritage CHRs such as WLAN that have strong established morning shows can do very well in that demo. It would take more time and investment for a new CHR to become profitable. Perhaps more of each than Cumulus wants to put in. Country goes right to the 25-54 core.

Liz is off of the LAN site.......

From Liz's Twitter, dated 1/27:

Today I was let go from FM97. They have been my family for 7 years and I will always love and miss them.

So much for the established morning show. Elvis Duran coming to Central PA? Lovely....

I hope you're kidding about that. JV and Elvis were in S.F. back in the 1990s, and where I worked at in Palo Alto, my co-workers listened to them on WILD 94.9....I could not stand those two guys.

The fact that CC runs this show (I think they still do) in Philly--a major market makes one believe that they would roll this out in a smaller market like Lancaster. What these ridiculous corporate owners have to realize is that it's not easy to build a brand without a strong LOCAL morning show.

Of course, there was an exception to this.....Stern. But name me a syndicated morning show that has ever come close to the listenership he had. In Central PA, the X has done just fine with the Peoples Morning Show.

With Hurley going to Allentown and Liz being let go, it truly looks like FM97 is giving up a LOCAL morning show. I feel for Liz. She deserves better.

Smart money is on Elvis Duran being aired in the morning slot on FM97.

Let's face it, CC has treated Lancaster as the bastard step-child or Land of Lost Toys. They're not going to put live local talent in a station that they treat as second string.

With Elvis won't there be overlap in places such as Reading with Q102 airing Elvis? Why not Kane Show? or even Matty from Kiss 108? What about Ace & TJ or Johnjay & Rich

Bobby D and Traci will move over from WINK 103 hee hee hee ;D

Actually this bastard station of WINK 104 would be smart to hire Liz for mornings and stop the simulcast out of Harrisburg. It's not working. Probably have to blow out a staffer to make room for her though.....

I could be wrong, but a little before 6am this morning, I could have sworn I heard a promo saying "Listen to Elvis monday morning to win tickets to Daughtry" It was early so maybe I was hearing things!

Nevermind. He is already on the site....Terrible decision in my opinion. Now with a syndicated morning show, a voice tracked night show and all the terrible voice tracking over the weekend, it has definitely lost its local feel. How long till they put Ryan Secrest on midays?

I think that was stupid for them to put Elvis in mornings when Q102 has them on there as well and their signal overlaps in Reading and the surrounding areas which sucks for commuters with no morning show variety. Elvis is great but he's all over now and he's changed a lot and it's no longer the localized New York Show it once was which I miss.

Is it just Elvis or is his corny sidekick JV with him still?
