A couple days ago the transmitter was off and now its back to simulcasting ESPN as of this post. : /Barry said:Has 107.1 switched to a simulcast of WLIX?
Has there been a change in call letters.
Radiohead Fred said:WLIR 107.1, told Southampton Town Police on Tuesday, June 21 that sometime between that date and Sunday, June 19 someone stole two transmitters worth a total of $10,000 from the station, located on County Road 51.
Radiohead Fred said:Yes..two transmitters or actually the exciters for the transmitters. The main on air one was installed around March and the back up was the older one in a nearby rack. The station was back up and running the next day and is still running ESPN at the moment.
I'm not sure about the legalities...but is there some kind of federal offense if a Radio station is taken off the air by the actions of an individual or individuals who commit a theft like this while the station was actively on the air? ???
Barry said:I was listening to WLIX a short while ago. The on-air personality at the Christian station said they will be on 107.1 soon. He also gave a shout out to the people in Nassau county listening on the 101.5 translator.
I wonder whether they will hold onto all the translators they are currently using on LI, once they are no longer a LPFM.
Barry said:Even without 94.7, WLIX is still broadcasting on 6 frequencies. I wonder if they will vacate some of them, as there is a considerable amount of overlap in the coverage of at least two.
