Well, that's because they're no longer on 92.7. They had a nice signal back in those days and they even had listener hotlines in places like New Jersey and Westchester.
The new tower site is going to be south of Riverhead, so that's still very far out east. With other 107.1's on the frequency in Westchester and coastal NJ, I can't see them moving any further west, and I think they're taking a reduction in wattage to do the move too.
It's really a shame that both WLIR and WDRE can't really be heard anywhere near the city. I really thought that WLIR had something going in its final months on 92.7, with its mix of alternative-ish rock and pop, the 80s stuff and the nightly alternative dance music (some of which was also interspersed in the playlist throughout the day). There were plans for a booster in Manhattan, and there was also talk about importing the Party format full-time to 92.7, which I'm sure would have done pretty well. So many things that could have been, but perhaps the one competent business move TMO has made was taking that $62 million from Univision, which has since floundered with that frequency.
