WLS-FM Returns

WLS-FM returned to Chicago radio at midnight June 26 with retro WLS jingles and Dick Biondi welcoming everyone back to WLS.
The first song after the changeover--"Life is a Rock" (the WLS version) by Reunion.

I am sick and tired of listening to Scott Shannon, because he is only just a one man show without local news!
Besides, he doesn't do any news and weather updates on the hour like other stations do on the FM band....

Agree with you. Scott Shannon is totally out of place on this station especially now with the WLS identity.
We need Lujack & Edwards and Fred Winston on in place of the useless Shannon.
Then you have the real WLS not just the call letters.

Strange, Scott Shannon is on again with the True Oldies Channel imaging, strange....To which station listen I, WLS or TOC ????

I listened today for a little bit online. Here's my comments.

Hey, Citadel...if you want to attempt to successfully play the "heritage" card with WLS-FM, you have some work to do.

For starters, the idea you would do this with a cheap satellite delivered format in Market #3 makes me automatically wonder about your intentions.

WLS, as a top 40 station signed on the air in May, 1960...so hearing Cozy Cole's "Topsy, Part 2" today didn't exactly remind me of WLS. (OK, I know it was a hit in '58, but nothing in that song screams "Musicradio WLS".)

You're not going to be able to do it successfully without an anchor jock...and there's enough former WLS people out there to staff it. If all you're going to do is try to cheap your way through with a satellite format, and some properly logoed jingles...well...the term "steaming turd" comes to mind.

And, frankly, Market 3 deserves better.

And we were surprised that this would happen? I think not.

Citadel stock today ... $1.30 a share.

Maybe Lujack and Lil' Tommy said, "Ah, the heck with it."

Sad.

Imus may not be so far off the radar after all.

Radio ... what's left of it can break your heart.

I am no expert on any contractual obligations LS-FM might have with Scott Shannon, but there might be some restrictions until those possible obligations are met.

I'm enjoying the local content. Jimmy Charles - A Million to One. Dick Biondi sounds good. Especially if you factor his age. I'm hoping my voice sounds that clear at 75.

I can tell you from experience.. 106.7 in Atlanta is True Oldies.. This is Shannon's baby.. He is and wants to always be the only star on the air with this format.. We have imus in the morning, scott til 3 pm.. Then a jock that Scott wanted hired to do afternoons, but with all shannons drops in the mix, and then at 8 pm back to scott til morning, when Imus returns.. It is ok, but not exactly exciting radio.. Although the oldies you hear will take u on a trip..

I can tell you since 7PM I have not heard Scott Shannon one time! I have not heard the words True Oldies either! The name of the new website is not true oldies either.

I listened for a bit, and they're still using plenty of "True Oldies" and "94.7 FM" imaging during the local DJ shifts. I was hoping to hear more of the classic jingles. Nice mix of music though, and Dick Biondi sounds good.

Citadel morons.

It's quite amusing the boobs at Shitadel believe Scott Shannons doo doo after all these years. This man is definately overrated in the past 10 years or more. His ego is so big he's become ineffective. He truly believes listeners need only listen to HIM :D

Besides that he's a HICK.

Cozy Cole's "Topsy, Part 2"

No doubt another Scott Channon "Pick"

Jeesh how this fraud has been able to convince the suits to air this crap is beyond me. :'(
