WLS MUSIC RADIO RETURNS!

stinker said:
Big 89 Rewind'
Larry Lujack kicks off star-studded flashback of Top 40 era on WLS

I used to listen to WLS at night when they boomed into Texas......it was sooo cool hearing wx forecast saying lows in the teens and highs in the 50s when it was still 70-80 down here ;) Got some raised eyebrows from the car sitting next to me at a stop light on the drag.....then hearing the TOH sung to "Music radio, W L S Chi-ca-go". I know of one marine business that would pipe WLS into their PA system at night for the security and night crews to listen...the docked tug boat crews loved it too! (thats what I get for letting a friend there listen to WLS .....they got hooked!)

Needless to say, the 500GB drive WILL be recording the stream Monday...I wonder if its going to be in stereo or mono down the net....(I loved it when they ran Kahn AM Stereo....driving across SE Texas in the 80s, I would listen to them on my Sony XRA33 mutimode radio; capable of all 4 AM Stereo modes and wide filter made it sound better than FM!...still have that radio in storage!

The streaming droped at 5:06am....don't know why. I could hear them over the air in my Jeep.

I can't help noticing that, like the cicadas, Ol' Uncle Lar resurfaces every 17 years....

I've been listening to the stream since just before 6am and it has been rock solid....as rock solid as the yucks and the memories. Larry Lujack and Little Tommy sounded a whole lot better than they did when they were on 1690.
Fred Winston's still got it, too. He popped in during Lujack and Edwards' gig...as Les Grobstein was doing his humorless sports geek act....Fred had been in the room for, maybe, 12 seconds, and he slipped in between The Grobber's sports trivia and deadpanned, "how long did it take before he got on your nerves?"

Thanks, Kipper

I was thinking the same thing. There'd be a better chance of BizRadio-1360 turning back the clock to KXOL sometime....hmmmmm....maybe I can pitch such a thing for the Labor Day weekend? Before the "Hi-Fi Club" lost its timeslot, we had offers from "Macko and Wacko" (Kent Burkhart and pal) plus other ex-KXOLers who were interested in doing that kind of thing.

The entire 19 hours of the WLS Rewind will be available soon on www.reelradio.com.

It was such a privilege to be involved, and an amazing day. If you didn't catch it, just wait until you hear JRL's first boogie check in 28 years!!
