WLTW HD2 Playing Rock-Hopefully Just a Glitch

WLTW HD2's stunting continues. They are sampling a different channel from IHeartRadio each day till May 12 launch date of their translator. Today they are carrying their Real Oldies Channel. IHeartRadio does offer a wide variety of commercial free music channels.

Which Iheart station is now on?

The HD signal on sister station WWPR 105.1 appears to be down.
Their HD2 has been broadcasting a Spanish A/C channel from IHeartRadio called Mia.
Perhaps country will move here, to WWPR HD2? If that happens, one could switch from urban to country music in one click of the dial.
That would be quite amusing, to have the dj's at Power 105 promoting country music on HD2 .

Was "New York Country" on WLTW HD2 just a rebroadcast of IHeartRadio's country station? If that's the case we're not really missing much since that is available online anyway.

In the early days of HD radio (2006) country music was on 103.5 HD2 while 106.7 HD2 was Classic Lite. If CC wants country on HD2 why do they have to move it around since the latest speculation is that it may come to 105.1 HD2?

At what point will we be hearing "Mancow's Morning Madhouse" on 106.7 HD2?

Remember that this signal will only be reliable in Manhattan, but it can penetrate the office buildings in Midtown, hence it will likely have an office friendly format. Lighter-than-Lite AC or smooth jazz.

According to the FCC coverage map the 60db contour goes as far west as Newark and as far east as Brooklyn and Queens, so I think it will have a pretty good signal in the nearby suburbs too.

Between the pirates and Thunder 106.3, a 60 dBu signal is no good. It has to be 20 dB stronger than WKMK for there to be no interference.

I checked out 106.7 HD2 this morning and they were playing Reba McIntire. I guess country is the format of the day.

How far will the new 106.3 Signal reach for NYC ? Will it reach all of NYC or just Times Square area ?

Turned it on again a while ago. WLTW HD2 had an announcement at the top of the hour, "New York has a new radio station coming May 12 on 106.3." Evidently that will be the starting date for WLTW HD2 to be carried on the new translator located at 4 Times Square.
They are still rocking, with liners such as "Classic rock heard here." Perhaps this is somehow related to the impending simulcast on the translator. But I can't imagine them competing with sister classic rock station Q 104.3- this has got to be temporary. And they still ID on the hour as New York Country. As there have been rumors that 106.3 will ultimately carry smooth jazz, could the classic rock be a transitional format?

In fact this morning they are continuing to run Country Road, and the New York Country sweepers are back for the first time since last week.
I do hope that some other HD2 picks up the country programming if the format on WLTW HD2 switches to smooth jazz, as rumored, starting on March 12.
Perhaps WRXP HD2, which now broadcasts smooth jazz, should flip to country.

Up till now they had given the call letters W293BU, which are for that 1 tiny 1 watt translator signal from Union City.
So this may be an indication that W296BT 106.3 FM is now on the air. Has anyone heard it yet?
I wonder if they will stay with country after all.

Yes. The translator is on the air at 106.3 broadcastong country road from iheart radio. You can hear them clearly all the way to Williamsburg Brooklyn. They continue to mention the new radio station on May 12.

A correction to my previous post: The new callsign for the 106.3 translator that is being mentioned at the top of the hour on WLTW HD2 is actually W292DV. The one that I had erroneously given was an old one.
It will be interesting to read additional reports of 106.3's coverage in the metro area. I do hope it does not provide significant interference to country WKMK, also on 106.3.
I checked the frequency in southern Westchester County, and cannot hear W292DV at all, due to WFAF on 106.3.
