WMEE MUSIC

Trying for listeners?? I haven't really noticed the difference...
Then again I listen to other Fed Med stations...the Bear and The Fort...
That Jack Hammer is one funny sob...(said with tongue in cheek.)

And Jack if you're reading this I'll keep an eye out for ya!

AMAZING! Maybe next time gang I'LL try to speak with the tip of my tongue inside MY cheek...and tell Jack to STOP hammerin' so loud!

ha chi chi chi chi chi

sounds like yet another "tweak" in the endless cycle of adjustment that has been WMEE in the last 15 years. It used to be that they couldn't keep Tony Richards' hands off the tiller when was GM.. Now that he's moved up, who's responsible for driving that ship in circles, always dangerously close to the rocks? (Hows that for playing out a metaphor, huh?

There was talk that if Federated was able to come to $$ terms with Clear Channel on their Defiance, Ohio stations, that WMEE would swing more toward their old CHR format, and that WDFM (Mix 98-1) would adopt a Hot AC/Variety format.

That was reported elsewhere on R-I. I think on the Ohio board. Dan Baisden got the 411 from someone really in the know. CC laughed at what Federated offered.

Unless, Corky means a new negotiation is underway? But I'm guessing, based on Corky's use of past tense, that he is referring to what I said above.

Not sure on anything new, but yes, I did hear that the 2 companies were miles apart the first time around.

Even 25-30 years ago. WMEE would slide all over the road, maybe mix in tons of oldies for awhile then shift back, get a little competition (like from the original B106) then tighten things up again That operation's so ingrown doesn't look like that tendency has changed.

me thinks ya'all are smoking crack ;D

have you really looked at the playlist and compared it with previous days?

no??

might wanna try...absolutely NOTHING different than has been done in the past year...

When I worked on the air at MEE (80-83) we were doing top 40. There is no true top 40 station in town, 25 years later, but WMEE is doing something similar to what MIKE-FM 102.9 tried to do for about a year, and that is the "Jack" format. The "Whatever Weekend" started on WMEE after MIKE-FM came on board and had a ity bity impact.

Fed Med's strength's however in ratings are due to the longevity of their positioning, by that I mean, staying with the same slogans and call letters for YEARS. Top of Mind Awareness helps keep your numbers up.

And they do a few tricks to spike the diary keepers recall that they did when I was there 25 years ago, (mostly on WOWO now).

We used to dual-program. Program for the masses, with special things added that we'd do to tweak the diary keepers.
Love them or hate them, they have a formula for getting ratings.

If nothing changes then a station naturally transitions into older music. It is the constant change, keeping up with the music a station they should be playing, that keeps a station current to it's format. Even a station that picks a decade long past as their format needs to stay in touch with which songs are popular from that decade now.

If a station gets behind on staying current it can sound like the "drift to older music" described. But the point is DON'T STOP CHANGING.

I failed to do research before posting my comment. Sorry about that, Dick.

I think maybe FedMed is just TOO entrenched in FW. When I worked there, on WQHK-AM, 89-91, you DIDN'T DARE speak ill of WMEE lest you want to be shown the (back) door. All the power (wattage) in this market and they're still pullin' down the numbers but that's old hat to them.

Sadly Fort Wayne is TOO MUCH country for MY tastes...I'd love a TRUE rocker in town...like the RIF from Detroit Rock City. I'll be Big Daddy dammit!!!!

Didn't WFWQ (the current WAJI) give WMEE a run for their money as a CHR under Marc Elliot for a year or two 81-82 or so. I remember WMEE going more punkish in the evenings, calling it "The Rock and Roll Alternative".

That was when WFWQ (95Q)'s airstaff included one Charly Butcher, I believe.

That was correct....think he was doing overnights. Tony Richards worked there for about a week as I recall not sure if it was before or after the Huntington gig.
