WMVB 78-81

Looking for info on the best damn lineup in South Jersey, WMVB, "The Spirit of South Jersey" from 1978-1981. I know you guys are somewhere out there. Anyone know whatever happened to Eric Carmen's schoolyard buddy, David B. Creamer? Let me know how all of you are and where.

I know a bunch of people who were there between 75 and '77; my brother Jimn Edwards, Danny O'Toole, Phil Simon from WPST, Charlie Mills, Bobby Brooks, Mike Bowe. I also have a dub of The Fun One jingles if you need them.

Oh, good Lord in heaven ! Could this be the Glenn Summers who was the Program Director of WGLI (AM), Babylon, New York in the 1980s ? The same Glenn Summers who was set to launch Radio Rx with another radio guy in the same time ?

I didn't know they had radio in South Jersey (lol).

BT...the very same...How's the far end of the Island treating you?
The time in Babylon was short, but sweet nonetheless. Radio Rx did finally start and was fledgling for a time, picked up a couple clients, made the car payments for a while and folded like a cheap suit. I'm doing insurance claims now, but I also do a parttime shift at WOBM in Toms River, where I was back in the "early" 80's. Drop me a note when you get a chance. Long live MOR!

Kevin: I worked with Bobby Brooks there and he's at "The Breeze" in Long Branch, NJ. I don't know what happened to Mike Bowe, but he came on after my initial overnight shifts at WMVB. Then I went back to college and returned to 'MVB as the PD after Larry Giordano in 1978.
I would love to know what happened to Dave Creamer. If you hear anything, please let me know.

Glenn, I am unable to locate your e-mail address and my filing system for your snail mail address is also in complete disarray. Forward the address !

Now, for those of you who don't know Glenn. . .he is a very talented radio guy who should be programming a full service/adult contemporary or an oldies station at the very least. In fact, 20 years ago at WGLI (AM), Babylon, he was the first Program Director who actually had an ear for audio ! See, I was from the school of 'lots of loud' and very heavy compression where Glenn was more interested in the actual tone quality.

Now, here it is 20 years later and I have finally backed off the processing and made little WRIV sound good. But I digress.

Glenn also saw the shift in audience before most and tried to make WGLI respond to that. I am sure that if he had more support from management (and perhaps a less restricted directional pattern), he would have restored that radio station to its previous glory.

I am glad you're still in the game and hope you and your family are well.

Bruce: First of all, thank you for the kind comments. At least there was a sympathetic ear at 'GLI back then. It was bad enough feeling like an outsider for being a Red Sox fan in Mets territory during the '86 Series, I didn't need the flack from management.
Hope all is well at 'RIV. The standards station here in Philly just switched to spors talk, so another one bites the dust, again probbaly due to poor management.
You can reach me at [email protected] or by snail mail at 105 Annapolis Drive, Sicklerville, NJ 08081.
Keep in touch.
