I noticed tonight (10/1) that 970 AM WNIV in Atlanta was off the air. They typically power down to a "flee power" level of 39 watts, but I can typically still receive the signal at my location 1.5 miles away from the WNIV Cheshire Bridge tower location. Tonight the 970 signal was no where to be found except their stream on-line.
Ironically, that opened up the frequency for 970 WGTK in Lousville, Kentucky to come in. Another Salem Communications station.
Up in Alpharetta, WLTA, the 1400 AM full time simulcast station for WNIV, seems to be putting out sideband spurs at +/- 120 kHz from 1400 kHz, landing at 1520 and 1280 kHz. The WLTA interference issue is not really a problem except very locally around their Kimball Bridge tower location since the main signal is only 1000 watts.
