I've been sampling the "Top 1,000" countdown today, and to be fair, I'm actually impressed with some of the selections so far.
But what I don't appreciate is WOGL billing it as the "Top 1,000" but not playing every single song.
Case in point: After playing song No. 930, "One Toke Over The Line", Holliday said song No. 929 was from Tavares, and then went on to song No. 928. He also did the same thing earlier with a T-Rex song.
That's crazy. Back when CBS-FM in New York did the Top 500 every Thanksgiving weekend, they would always start at 1:01 PM on Thursday, and finish up in the 9 PM hour on Friday. Then you know what they would do? They'd turn it around, and play every single song again!
Granted, I know a majority of the songs on CBS' playlist at the time made it a little quicker to get through hours and hours of songs (i.e. many 50's and 60's songs were shorter compared to most 70's songs, which seem to be making up a bulk of WOGL's Top 1,000).
But don't bill something as the "Top 1,000" and skimp on a few selections. It ain't the "Top 1,000". At this rate, more like the "Top 840".
(But as noted, some of the "oh wow" selections on the countdown kinda make up for this. ;D )
