I doubt the 103s will ever simulcast. Specific people/groups have bought the time on each station and it is probably impossible. Davidson has no say in what is done as long as they get the $$$. Different Spanish programs are brokered...then the stuff on 103.3...IMO, the stations NEVER should have been split up. They can get decent ratings together, but neither covers the whole market alone.
Goodtimesgreatoldies' comment got me thinking about something - how come 103.3 in Greer and 103.1 in Anderson are allowed to be so close on the dial? If I try to get 103.1 in Greenville, 103.3 is bleeding over and if you try to get 103.3 outside of Greenville, 103.1 starts bleeding over. Seems to me they should have been spaced better, they aren't that far apart in distance.
Both WRIX-FM and WOLT-FM are Class As, a Maximum of 6KW/328 ft or the equivalent thereof.
For Class As on the same channel, the minimum spacing requirements are 62 miles.
The distance between the WRIX-FM Antenna just west of Craytonville and the WOLT-FM transmitter east of Holly Springs is about 50 miles.
Also, the 60 dbu "local signals aren't allow to cross on adjacent channels, which WOLT's and WRIX-FM's dont.. the 54 dbu signals of both stations come very close to touching, with WRIX-FM's 54 dbu falling off somewhere in southwestern Easley and WOLT-FM's 54dbu signal falling off in eastern Easley.
They fit, but barely.
