Woody Nelson Scam?

His posted phone number means nothing. Cell phones go everywhere. Still using a mailing address in Thomasville? Maybe he is still around there. Storms are hit or miss around there so if he was 5 miles out in the country he could have easily taken a surge from "country power". Fits.

What happened to that radio station he was going to get running in Oregon back when he walked away from WSBX? I assumed he was out there somewhere.

Yes, cell phones do go everywhere, but that has no bearing here, since Woody/Steven cannot own a cell phone.
This number (229-233-6153) IS his (well, it's listed to his Mom, Doreen Blood) and it IS a land line in Thomasville, GA. Give it a try. Since he's in so much trouble, I'll bet it goes directly to VM.
My guess is that he can't obtain a cell phone contract due to his shaky or non-existent credit history. Remember, this guy has never held a legit job, never mind having never worked in radio.
He hasn't walked away from WSBX (or Thomasville) as he has NO OTHER PLACE TO GO. Once again, if you don't have a job or can't provide any sort of revenue history your choices are limited.
Regarding the Oregon chapter from a few years ago, another one of his 2-bit scams. He was working this one under the ruse of "Rocket Radio Network" until the owners of Rocket Radio Network found out and came down on him hard.
Here's a link to an Oregon discussion board about Blood's scam with "buying" KORC/Oregon:

By posting as much as possible about this thief I'm hoping enough information will be on the Internet to have him answer in a court of law or at the very least publicize this clown's scams to the public at large.
[EDIT*- name calling]and not a very nice person.

He's also a voice talent! Trained in LA as well as 14 years of vocal training and truly amazing as he can do all work..union, non-union, Canadian Union..he's a character voice, a cartoon voice "which I am know for" he writes, translates, can produce, add music and effects..whew. The guy is incredible

And he worked with Sammy Hagar and Shadoe Stevens? Check it out. I keep being blown away

Press Release...April 18,2008

Cabo Wabo Radio is announcing as of May 1, 2008, Woody Nelson, who first brought the concept of delivering a Rock and Roll Radio Station emanating out of Sammy Hagar's world famous Cabo Wabo Cantina, will be reducing his role within the project. Woody had been acting as Operations Manager / Program Director and On Site Nightly Host of Cabo Wabo Live. Programming and Imaging will continue from the Cabo Wabo Radio office of Shadoe Stevens in Southern California. Shadoe, who had been brought to the project after its inception for strategic programming, branding and marketing, will continue in this role as well that of operations director.
Woody Nelson says, "Building this project with Shadoe has been challenging and at the same time immensely rewarding. We built this product around everything Sammy Hagar stands for. It is a unique Radio Station and dare I say, it will be impossible to duplicate." "Also, I'm looking forward to my next adventure in programming, I've received calls from all over the world, in no small part, due to the global success of Cabo Wabo Radio. My reduced roll with the project will allow me to pursue these opportunities."
Sammy Hagar thanks Woody for his vision and dedication to Cabo Wabo Radio and wishes him the best of luck with his new ventures.
Woody can be reached on his email at [email protected] .
Cabo Wabo Radio is heard 24/7 around the world at www. cabowaboradio. com

You may want to contact the guy out in Big Bear and tell him he has his GA's and his FLA's backwards.

Sure Woody is incredible ... an incredible boor.

Has there been any progress with law enforcement in this matter? A DA could make a name for himself if he can bring down someone like Woody Nelson. It will take law enforcement to do this: All of the Facebook pages, all of the chat groups, all of the editorials and all of the TV pieces won't do it. Somebody must file charges.

I once posted to Woody that I thought I might be the only real friend he had on this particular board, and that he had just lost that one friend. There is no love lost for little Steven here, so when he is taken down for these alleged scams of his, I won't necessarily celebrate his downfall - nor will I lament his downfall. Good luck to all concerned!

Any "press release" related to any of Steven Blood's "ventures" are written and distributed by him. So it's 100% self serving. Just like his many Facebook pages and his "friends". The best part of this release is his comment about getting calls from all over the world! Right. And then you settle in Thomasville, Georgia with a pre-programmed Internet site! Big time indeed.
To set the record straight: Steven (Woody) was cut loose before the Cabo Wabo site even went live. This would be in late 2007. He basically hung out (anyone ever heard of the Cabo Lounge in Cabo San Lucas?) and ran up bar tabs between then and probably when his visa expired in mid-2008.
Mexico's loss was, unfortunately, an even bigger loss for the USA.

It keeps getting better.
His scam out in Big Bear, CA was a topic on this discussion board (80's/90's Variety Hits) back in 2005 when he was doing the Jack Hammer scam.
http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?topic=19000.0

Amazing, how the Big Bear scam and his latest scam in Huntsville are nearly the same. You'd think that 5 or 6 years later he'd come up with a better one. So, not only is he a low life 2-bit scam artist, he's pretty lazy, too.
I'd bet he's got bad breath, too.

Poledo:

Here's the gist of the Waldport, Oregon, station (formerly KORC-AM, now KWDP.) Under
the Proffitt era, you'll see a mention of Georgia Triangle Broadcasting. It was a short love affair.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KWDP

I'm friends with several station owners throughout North Florida and Georgia. One of them called me Sunday night, asking if I had ever heard of this person/company. They apparently called him looking for investors/partners to go in on a Spanish station (WSBX). I advised the station owner to stay far away.

WSBX hasn't put a listenable signal into Tallahassee in at least three years.

WTCL-AM 1580 in Chattahoochee bills less than $10k a year* with Spanish programming. I understand it is up for sale.

*This is not a typo.

Be sure to read this wikipedia link, especially footnote #12 for Georgia Triangle Broadcasting (Steven Blood) - these poor folks. Just like the folks in Alabama that he was scamming.
Actually, here's the link to that footnote:

[EDIT*- name calling]

Judging from his Twitter feed (as Woody Nelson), it appears he's given up the dj ruse and is shilling for one of those Internet "work from home, make millions" sites. So when he's not involved with outright scams, he works with quasi scamming outfits. Makes sense for a guy who's never held a legit job.
I've noted that these Radio Info posts are now being linked to a Facebook page that is detailing all of Mr. Blood's nefarious deeds, particularly the Huntsville Storm Aid scam he got caught pulling.

A thought: Anyone can post anything on Wikipedia, and it stands as written until challenged - which in many cases is: never. Therefore, Wikipedia is not a good primary source in my ever so humble opinion.

Absolutely. But, different than Facebook is that there are moderators charged with monitoring the content for factual veracity.
The important part of this Wikipedia entry is the link to the newspaper article detailing how Blood's Georgia Triangle Broadcasting took advantage of these folks trying to sell KORC-AM. Once again, Steven Blood proves that he never, ever can follow through or much less support any claims.
While taken on it's own this story may appear to paint Blood in only a negative light, but within the context of ALL the stories about him it will provide authorities a roadmap of his activities.
At the very least, there will be enough info about this fraud that, hopefully, he will be unable to perpetuate any more scams in the future.
Vigilance!

The Missouri AG announced today that he has filed a lawsuit against Steven Blood aka Woody Nelson for apparently trying the same scam he got caught pulling in Alabama. Probably only a matter of time before Alabama files, too. With so much evidence on the web about this character, even going back to the same sort of scam he pulled in California years ago, I'd say he's toast.
A visit to his Cowboy Bills site shows quite a lot of pages missing today. Most notably the "On-Air Personalties" - where he claimed Taylor Hicks was on board(!). Also the link to EventBrite (hosting ticket sales for his fictitious charity concerts) has disappeared.
Boy, did this guy's delusional lies over the years finally catch up with him. There will probably be a line around the courthouse when other folks he's wronged file suits along with Missouri!

I'm thinking there may be a radio station in Thomasville up for a short sale pretty soon!

I'm thinking there may be a radio station in Thomasville up for a short sale pretty soon!

It won't be wsbx: Before anyone would put down the kind of purchase price which was bandied about a few weeks ago on Craigslist - or anything close to that kind of money - the station would have to be brought up to a condition at least allowing it to operate. I predict that the license will be allowed to expire; what may be worth selling off will be sold off; the rest will be dismantled and sold at salvage; the property will be listed with a real estate broker, and this particular station will soon fade from memory.

If the lawsuits you mention are filed pretty quickly, however, and Doreen Blood is named as a defendant, then the property may just sit there until the matter is resolved, and it will slowly be reclaimed by Nature.

Exactly - that's why it's called a short sale:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_sale_(real_estate)

The suit filed by the Missouri AG is threatening to fine him $1,000 per violation, in addition to the other monetary demands. Do the math - this is going to cost Doreen or Steven or Woody (whoever shows up in the MO court?) And where does the money come from? Unless his scams are more prevalent than these recent events?
A serial scammer? If that's the case, is he related to that fabled deposed African prince who regularly spams me with emails for big bucks?
It's all making sense.

I'm familiar with selling short, but in order for a licensed broadcast station to be sold, the FCC must give approval. Even when everyone concerned is doing his part in a timely manner, this process takes a few months to complete - longer if there is a problem during the application process; or if interested third parties file court actions against either party to the sale, or request a hearing before the Commission regarding the transfer. Also, the buyer must be found by the FCC to be both qualified and capable of operating the station. Every sales agreement I have ever read has a "pending approval" provision written into the contract.

Georgia Triangle Broadcasting could return the license for wsbx to the FCC, and it could then sell off the station assets, but these assets lose most of their value if this is done. In short the property may not be worth what you believe it to be worth, and it is also probably not readily fungible. Remember, the station has been silent for quite some time. This greatly diminishes its value as a saleable business. Given today's economy, I doubt the real estate is worth very much.

;) This post is a hoot.

I'm still getting a kick out of it.

And yes, this reply was created on my new IPad, for anyone wondering.

I'm having fun with it too! Have you looked at the Facebook page? You ought to. Gospel Lawn Care? No ... I'd better not go there. ;D

I have looked at Facebook but I'm not ready to use it yet.

All that info you see is what I'm currently involved in and some of my many influences.

This Woody character is for the birds.

Hope the law will soon get him.

He's a troublemaker indeed.

Steven Blood aka Woody Nelson certainly doesn't seem to grasp how serious this situation is. It looks like he's more concerned with his image, social media and Internet wise. Most of the Facebook pages he's created have disappeared. Not sure if that's his doing or Facebook's?
He's also claiming to look for a lawyer to SUE a bunch of people and companies even though WHY he thinks there's a case there isn't clear. You'd think he'd be looking for a lawyer to untangle his mess with a minimum of penalties and fines. From what I'm seeing, he's digging that hole a lot deeper.
His Internet site for Cowboy Bills Radio is now completely devoid of ANY mentions of Storm Aid, t-shirts, etc. He had been posting that he was going to announce a new venue for the imaginary Storm Aid concert. So either a lawyer advised him to do this, or his Mom has wielded the big stick.
Interesting that this Storm Aid stuff is still listed on Event Brite.
Bottom line, he can scrub his sites till the cows come home, but any decent forensic IT person or anyone with some computer smarts can always pull them back up.
Did anyone see his quote to the AP pretty much admitting taking all this money and it going to his "building captital"?
Just when you think he doesn't get it, he comes back blazing with even more crazy ignorance!
