Woooow KEGL....

I've noticed myself not listening to The Eagle much lately either, now that you mention it. So I asked myself

Q: what's different today on KEGL, than few months ago?

A: Too much acid rock, not as much cool rock, and no need to listen to RMS show, bc that ship has sailed. It sailed before the restart on KEGL, but I had to listen for a while in hopes that was not the case.

a 1.7 is pretty bad.
I wonder why its so low.

Well Time For Live 97.1!
the KLLI calls are still available

No, it's time to dump that lame-ass Russ Martin

Waaaait a minute!.... What happened to all of that Russ love?....

it is time to dump Russ and the format. The question is...what will work on 97.1? Soft AC has been tried along with Spanish. There are too many spanish stations now. Not sure what they should flip to.

well,
Clear Channel could try to take a bite out of KLUV by trying KOOL 97.1
I know CC has a few of those stations, and they are pretty good.

Soft AC may be the way to go for CC on 97.1..... 97.1 The Breeze....

They tried Soft A/C when Sunny 97.1 was on here but didn't work

How about a full signal Urban AC....they would win by default because they can be heard. They could put Steve Harvey on there and not lose any money.

I suspect that if Clear Channel spins the format wheel at 97.1 it will land on either Country or News/Talk.

The later would include the stealing of Rush and Beck (which may have additional appeal now that this will be his home market).

That might not be too far-fetched. Classic Country could work, providing that it would be several decades removed from the likes of Ernest Tubb and Ferlin Husky tunes and didn't cater to the 65 to dead demo.

Again, something that could happen. With Clear Channel all options are on the table, always.

I hadn't thought of Country.
Classic Country certainly has a huge format hole in DFW.
92.1 doesn't cover much of the metro and 1190 isn't country fulltime
I could Certainly see Cowboy 97.1

One bad book and we're ready to flip formats...How bout just tweak the Eagle. There is a need for active rock in a major metro (duh), just need to program it right.

97.1 has had more than 1 bad book. Brining back the Rock format has never taken off. Classic Country was brought up wihich was interesting considering the 1190 had a showing in the ratings when they ran it, and that was on AM. That might work. Can you see Russ doing mornings on a Classic Country format?

There is zero chance of Clear Channel putting Classic Country on 97.1. Way way too old. If it ever goes country, it will be the young, modern kind of country.
