Worst Magic edit ever!

I just heard this horrible edit of "Stereo Hearts" on Magic 106.7. They basically edited out ALL the rap parts, and mainly just repeated the chorus and the "oh oh oh" part 2 or 3 times, making the song extremely short. Why do they even bother making these edited versions? If they don't like the rap, just assume not play the song at all.

Apparently, the non-rap portions of the song test well enough in the target demo. It's a way of making a catchy pop tune with rap elements palatable in a conservative at-work or retail setting. I see nothing wrong with it. If you want to hear it uncut, listen to a CHR station, not an AC.

These lite rock stations today have gone to hell.. Right down the pooper I say.... The last year these stations had good playlists was back in 1995.....! I want to hear some seals and croft, Lionel Richie, Orleans, and maybe throw some Kenny G in there....! This stuff on the air today is garbage.

That's what I've been saying all along. I'm with you 100%
What happened to Celine Deon Music, Luther Vandros music, Freddie Jackson, Rick Astley, Tina Turner, Smokey Roberson, Curtis Stigers, Joe, they even used to play "My My My by Johnny Gill, what happened to these nice soft music
I'm sorry, but "Living on a Prayer" by Bon Jovie isn't soft rock. That's nightmere rock and roll music. "Bed of Roses" would be better to play. I mean come on now. They used to play all the good stuff back then 1989-2001

and Candy O'Terrytold me I don't know nothing about the AC format?
She better do some research herself!!! Playing Nightmere Rock and Roll music on there. God Come on now

You actually talked to Candy? What exactly did she tell you?

I was applying to a job, and sent her an example of a Playlist.
But, like I say in most of my posts. "Program Management knows more, it was just ideas, nothing to hurt no one"
But yeah, she told me that.
But look, really, they are AC station. I'm not saying play ALL Urban AC, all I'm saying is, back in the day they used to play such good mucic "Do It To Me One More Time" Lionel Richie, Celine Deon "Where Does My Heart Beat Now", "I Wonder Why" Curtis Stigers, "Cry For Help" Rick Astley, "Water Runs Dry" By Boyz To Men", They used to play Luther Vandros, Freddie Jackson, James Ingram, Amy Grant, Michael Bolton. Those are Soft Rock, Peter Cetera, Londonbeat, Janet Jackson. I can go on and on.
What happened to the good music.
I'm not saying don't play Bon Jovie music, it's just they can play something softer like "Bed Of Roses"
They used to also play PM Dawn, where's all the good music?

If I can work at Magic, it would be 100% way better than it is now. "Bedtime Magic" will be all Slowjams like it was in the past, no upbeat music, some nice slow jams like itw as ment to be. It would be a lot better than what it is now, that's for sure.
But as I said and I will leave you with
"Program Management knows what they want. Not me. These are just good ideas, nothing to hurt no one"
Good Day all

Thank you for your good advice, but she is the one who is off base.
Tell me, if you're looking to hear nice soft rock, and you hear Nightmere Rock and Roll Music on that station, what you call that?
They are the ones who is off base.
Come to my weekday job, I work at a Health Center in the Dorchester/Mattapan area. Majority of the people who work there are African American 85%, Hatian and Vietnamese make up the rest of the %. In our building, most offices have a (Speaker) The (Speaker) is a Radio. When you turn it on, (Magic 106.7) is on there, wherever the main Stereo is in the building, it is set to (Magic 106.7). So when the offices, any office put on that speaker, they all have on (Magic 106.7)
Let me tell you for a Fact, no 65 year old African American person want to hear that Nightmere Rock and Roll music. Trust me, not even a African American Baptist Church person want to hear that Garbadge, as well as Hatians.
Magic 106.7 Program Management is the ones who is off base.
Disregarding good, nice, new, recent, and old (soft) music, they are off base!!

Magic works just the way it is. Why change it?

Yep, and with only 8 percent black population, there's no reason for WMJX or any other station to bend over backward to play music that would be unknown to the other 92 percent -- and probably unknown to the younger portion of that population. Oh, and WMJX is not programming for 65-year-olds of any race or ethnicity; they want as few of them as possible listening. Old people are poison to advertisers.

They used to play that music back in the day. And now, all of the sudden they disregard it. They are famous music and well known music
God, you people must not like this music

The fact of the matter is, the adult contemporary format as a whole is "struggling" (in comparison to how it has always been) for the past few years. AC stations have always pulled select songs from top 40/CHR, but they have typically been from tried and true light rock artists, singers/songwriters, and the like. And years ago, AC stations could pull from urban/R&B as well, however the amount of AC-friendly product to be pulled from today's urban format is essentially nil, because it's either not family-friendly or not as mass-appeal as R&B music from years past as been (Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, Lionel Richie, Alicia Keys, etc.) Yet, as every format does have to evolve, AC is no exception, and includes a number of currents and recurrents while having to drop older titles from the 60s and 70s. Like it or not, AC's target demo, for the most part, can take some of the more upbeat top 40 since it is as mass-appeal as it is. But in the process, they're abandoning the R&B side of things, as well as some of the singer/songwriter acts that you may her on 92.5 The River.

Magic does have some pretty bad edits, I may say. If they dropped "Stereo Hearts" altogether, it won't make or break the station. I'd rather hear "Payphone" without the Wiz Khalifa rap (I actually prefer it anyway, the rap is so out of place) on Magic than "Stereo Hearts" since most of "Payphone" is kept in-tact. Song familiarity is important, especially for older titles. People notice when the guitar solo from "Don't Stop Believin'" is cut out--it wouldn't kill Magic to keep it in. It seems to be a Greater Media thing--92.9 WBOS plays a few bad edits as well.

Finally, I'm always amused by LAUROJRM's posts, ranting about how soft rock stations need more slow jams and that there's too many "rock and roll stations." The fact is, Boston is a rock market as represented by several current strong rock outlets such as WAAF, WBOS, WXRV, and WZLX, as well as a number of former legendary stations--WBCN, WFNX, WCOZ, even WCGY, to name a few. Radio is, and always will, cater to the masses. Yes, I'd love for there to be an actual urban/R&B station in town, and yes, I feel that all talk radio should be relegated to the AM band, but I'm only one person. If there's a way to stream a particular station into your office in Mattapan using Wi-Fi, try that out. There are many more options, and good ones, as long as it is NOT IHeartRadio... ;)
