Worst songs on country radio

Drink to That All Night by Jerrod Niemann. He RAPS it here and there! I hate when C/W stars try to put "urban" into their music. Country is country, not "Countrypolitan" music.

Nice try. No "hip-hop" culture in that one. Seriously, that is a tired argument, little a. Give it up.

For it's time, calling someone a son of a b---- in a song was pretty hip hop. Same with Johnny Cash. Polite people in church don't talk like that.

And since then, a lot of hip hop groups have covered the song. So it's a very good argument. If it's good enough for Charlie, it's good enough for others.

When rappers start citing THEM as influences, I might agree with you. 'Til then, it's Sugar Hill Gang all the way.

I think "Cruise" with Nelly should be destroyed. Who thought a popular rapper should be doing a country song with Florida Georgia Line? They have jumped the shark, just like Taylor Swift. Next thing you know they will be doing a song that ends up #1 on the Hot 100 and doesn't end up on the Hot Country charts at all. Their name should be turned to "Crap Crap Line"! Thank goodness for someone like George Strait who would never THINK of using a rapper on ANY song.

Thankfully we have access to KKXA 1520 up here in our neck of the woods!

I know so many people who just fawn over this modern rap country crap. As I have said many times before, country music is the "in" thing among teens!

I watched the Miss USA pageant. Since I taped it I was able to skip over certain parts of the broadcast. I knew exactly what to do when Florida Georgia Line and Nelly came on. Then the girls in swimsuits started their competition. The instrumentals during that part were bad enough, but at least there were gorgeous girls in bikinis to look at. Then the "music" started up again and I fast-forwarded, then I realized they had twenty girls this year. Honestly, why did they have to make so many changes in this show? It does not need to be three hours.

Florida Georgia Line - "This is How We Roll" - what in the flipping hell is this?! Instead of Nelly, now it's the band RAPPING...jeeze! Every time I hear this song I change the channel. Country music has gone down the tank quite a bit.
In comparison, George Strait's "I Got a Car" is a great song - by the legend who just wrapped up his final tour.

If I haven't mentioned "Truck Yeah" I need to.

Since rap was mentioned above I should mention that last week I made a discovery about a country song that is mostly good. I hate the drums, but "Any Man of Mine" is otherwise a good country song. But toward the end Shania actually raps. Not that this is bad.

The song mentioned above that mentions boot scoot is prob Boot Scooting Boogie by Brooks and Dunn (spoofed by someone as Butt Dragging Doggy I think). Here we go, do-si-do, here we go boot scoot. Oh, Cadillac get back, baby meet we out back we're gonna boogie. Get down get around, go to town, boot scootin' boogie

Done orig by Asleep at the Wheel and covered by Alvin and the Chipmunks, the B&D version hit #1 in 1992 (and #50 on pop
charts). "Its success is cited as having started a renewed interest in line dancing throughout the United States"

Now Boot Scootin' Boogie is a good song and more and more country stations have been getting rid of it. You are lucky to hear "Check Yes or No" nowadays on regular country stations. It's all 2005 and later hits and many of them are new crappy countrypolitan songs.

It's not one of the bad ones, but to me it's not one of the good ones either. I did hear a good version performed by Suzanne Somers on "Step by Step" but I hate the screaming guitar on the Brooks & Dunn version. Fact is, I can't stand Brooks & Dunn period.

I can't remember any more of the lyrics, but this one rock song played on a so-called country station includes references to Waylon and Willie and celebrates all things that make country music good, without actually being country itself.

Please tell me you aren't talking about "Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)".

^^^ It could have been the Brantley Gilbert song named "Country Must Be Country Wide". Willlie and Waylon are mentioned in it.

God bless you and Willie and Brantley always!!! :) :) :)

Holly

P.S. Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Sr. are mentioned in that song too.

That's the one. Absolutely terrible.

I would never say anything bad about "Luckenbach, Texas".
