Yep - it's official, mostly all teenybopper and 20s acts on country stations now. It's a shame that Alan Jackson, the legend he is, hasn't had a #1 single in 6 years. Heck he hasn't had a top 10 in five! I get excited when I hear "Chattahoochee" on "today's country" stations nowadays. It seems like everyone has aired "I Got a Car" by George Strait - but only getting a #23 on the charts shows that most teenagers don't care about the "old farts." VERY SAD.
At the same time Garth Brooks has a new single that is up to #22 - we'll see how far that goes up. With all the Lady Antebellum and Cole Swindell and FGL success, probably not much farther.

He hasn't released much either. Tim McGraw is 46, so is Kenny Chesney, and they both just had #1s. That's how old Johnny Cash was when he had his last #1. Merle was 50 when he had his last #1. Same with Eddy Arnold. Why should George Strait be any different? He had his last #1 when he was 60.

Tim McGraw's latest music is not exactly what I would classify as poetic gold. We cannot forget "Truck Yeah" (no matter how hard we might try).
 
I don't like riding in pickup trucks or dirt roads, or farms, or drinking anything with alcohol, or going to bars, or hard work, or being way out in the country, or fishing.

But because of where I live I've spent my whole life listening to songs about these topics, and I enjoy listening to these songs even today.

If you change your mind there is now a large movement of teenagers having bonfires out in the sticks whilst listening to "BG"!
 
Blake Shelton performed two of his hits on "SNL" and hosted. I think he had a good time. He also performed a couple of other songs written just for the show and one that began on "Hee Haw". The "Hee Haw" gag bombed.

"Neon Light" is the good kind of country music but, while I don't have a problem with "chew tobacco, chew tobacco, chew tobacco, spit", the song with those words just sounds bad.
 
So what does everyone here think of the latest from Miranda Lambert named "Little Red Wagon"?

Is that the one she did at The Grammys?

For all her efforts to sound traditional, she messed up with that one and the Carrie Underwood duet.

^^^ Its one of the worst that I have heard too and not just because of how it sounds, but because of her attitude in it. She sounds like she thinks that she is God's gift to whoever she sings the song to!

Amen to this. I especially get sick of her doing one rocked up song right after another which is what I believe was done when "Fastest Girl In Town", and "Mama's Broken Heart" went to radio. The least that she could do is spread them out some.

P.S. To me, her doing the song at the Grammy awards show was a sheer slap in the face to real country music when it already does not get a fair shake during the show. Only one of the country Grammy awards was handed out during the broadcast. The other three were handed out earlier that day. I wish that the awards for Best Country Collaboration and Instrumental were still handed out as well as the Best Country Solo Performance award being two awards for both male and female instead of just the one that it is now. They should have just left things the way that it used to be. Nothing was broken in the first place so how could anything be fixed?
 
I didn't hear the title of the song (I think the lyrics include the words "Are you ready?") but I did hear that the artists were Bonnie Raitt and Bruce Hornsby. She has had a hit on her own, I think. This version sounded more rock than country, though WBRF does play some rock artists such as Lynyrd Skynyrd on "Outlaw Drive at Five". My usual station had a basketball game.
 
I heard the words "Burning It Down" in the worst mess I believe I ever heard on a so-called country station. The only thing country about it other than the lyrics was the Southern accent of the lead singer. This was bad.
