Worst songs on country radio

“Anything Goes” by FGL looks like will be their worst charting hit so far. Still another top 10 hit isn’t that shabby.

This was a bad call on my part when it spent 2 weeks at #11 and was losing its bullet. Now it looks to be #1 next week.

This one song was not even identifiable as country. Everything about it was wrong except the lyrics and the southern accent of the vocalist and his Auto-tune. The beat was straight Hot AC.

All I remember was it was something about being crazy but I couldn't identify any other lyrics.

So everything was country except the beat? If something is 75% country, do you throw it out because of the 25%? Because if so, most of the country music of the 1970s should be thrown out. Especially all the Kenny Rogers and Anne Murray stuff.

It needs to actually sound country first of all. The instrumentals were also pure Hot AC. A Southern accent is possible in any kind of music. So are these lyrics, really.

And I like Kenny Rogers and Anne Murray and don't care what kind of music they are actually performing.

It really doesn't matter. Radio stations aren't musicologists. They just play what's popular. If Anne Murray and Kenny Rogers were country in their time, then it doesn't matter. It opens the doors for everyone else.

That Mumford & Sons hit from a year or so ago, right?
I wouldn't know. I was talking about a rap song where the guy had a Southern accent and the lyrics seemed to fit a country format, but everything else about the song was Hot AC or CHR. Mumford & Sons, from what I have heard, are folk, and that wouldn't likely be high-tech.

I haven't heard it again, but I keep trying the different stations when I think of it, just so I can find out what this is.

Now yesterday, on a so-called classic country station, there was "Tonight Looks Good on You". Steel guitar, but the beat and some of the other instrumentals were pure 80s Hot AC. The 80s were a really bad era in music.

I wish I could remember the lyrics I heard. I always think I will. "House party" seems like it might have been a potential title. Absolutely awful. Adding a banjo which could hardly be heard didn't change anything.

^^^ There is a song named "House Party" from newer singer Sam Hunt. To me, it is actually one of his better songs.

God bless you and him always!!! :) :) :)

^^^ And to me, the girl who sings it sounds like nothing but a teeny bopper.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. Kelsi Ballerini is her name.

"Can't stand the noise". I think those are the lyrics I heard, over and over.

I agree. And whatever song that was, it wasn't even identifiable as country. I just happened to know I was on a country station.

^^^ That is the newest song from Kenny Chesney.

God bless you and him always!!!

Holly

P.S. To me, the song is good and so is Kenny's singing still, but the song is overproduced sounding every time that the chorus is sung, but maybe it is supposed to be to get across the meaning of the song.
