Would Merlin flip EMP to Alternative?

Yeah, but Merlin trying to compete with these flagship stations in major markets is pretty hopeless.

Merlin has a choice, either move WEMP toward mostly local news/talk or pack it in and sell to ESPN. I agree that trying to compete and overtake CBS' long-established all-news outlets is hopeless. ;)
 
101.9 was pretty much hopeless since CD left the airwaves. 101.9 was an absolute joke. Made WRFY-FM in Reading sound like a station in a big city! WRFY-FM plays The Fray & Gavin DeGraw next to Bush & ACDC and they're owned by CC. Nothing against that, but they should at least stick to one format & strictly rock and they are very local I like that people are local and have jobs.
 
I say within a year merlin sells everything off too another owner at that point all those stations with fm news flip formats too something else noway they can overtake CBS
