WOW, I guess there IS potential for this format...

I will admit Watercolors does play it safe but they have a large playlist.

I'd like to see some Swing out Sister, Heavyshift, and maybe something from the "Melt" CD that Godiva Chocolate came put with a few years ago.

As another poster said "Chill" is good too. For those times when you want something a little different.

Some vocals by Stevie Wonder, Basia, and Randy Crawford would be nice.

They do play 90 Degrees N The Shade by Heavyshift, but that is the only one I have heard. They also play Randy Crawford, but I could do without her. I'm glad I don't have to hear Stevie Wonder. What I don't understand is why they do play Basia (who I enjoy and I'm glad they play) and at the same time fail to play stuff like Swing Out Sister and Everything But The Girl.

Throw Workshy, Aya, Blue Six, and Weekend Players into the mix as well, not to mention Tracy Thorne's solo stuff, which works very well in my rotation. Love and respect Stevie immensely, but I do not have one Stevie Wonder cut in my 4000 cut roation.

I like Watercolors alot. I like The .wav. I also like to listen to WINR, also known as www.smoothjazz4u.com. These are excellent presentations of the format. I'm sure all these "broadcasters" can find that happy medium. I do love the more funkier stuff of Waymon Tisdale(RIP), Marcus Miller and David Sanborn. But the downfall of this format on terrestial radio was charts, playlists and consultants. I was done with KOAI when I heard the Janet Jackson version of "That's The Way Love Goes". I can deal with Norman Brown's version, but not Janet's. R&B additions killed it. As much as I love R&B, I hated to hear it on a Smooth Jazz station. Programmers and consultants did not let the SJ stations be who they said they were....SMOOTH JAZZ.

At the risk of being called a fanboy I really like the song "Kill Me with Your Love" by Chloe from Yanni Voices. Heard it on Watercolors tonight. So they are adding some good vocals to the mix.

I also like that and I think I've been hearing it on there for several months now. I don't have the album, but they play a few tracks from the album and it seems like a good one.
