In this day and age when victims are everywhere and we are all being told we need group help, there seems to be a program for every type of "addict".
There are 12-Step programs for drinkers, druggies, pill-poppers, even those who just can't stop having continuous sex.
WPEN is also in need of such a program. GM is apparently addicted to having infomericals on weekends. They ruined their oldies format with all sorts of paid talk on weekends. They are still trashing their weekends with it even though they have ESPN.
I decided to check what was on ESPN Sunday morning. Sunday is, of course, a big game day for most sports fans. What's on 950 at 11am? Some money info show! Not talk about the Phillies less than stellar play. Not talk about the Sixers and Flyers in the playoffs. No talk about the college hoops Saturday night. An infomercial about somebody's idea of how to spend your money. We have that on WWDB.
Can't WPEN get it through their collective heads that to have a fighting chance with sports talk they have to do SPORTS TALK?
Like any addict, I guess they have to hit bottom with revenue and number of listeners until they seek help from radio people who really know the business of how to run a format.
