WPLJ - How to save a sinking ship

They really are boxed in. Modern Top 40 Pop music is over saturated in NYC. Z, Amp, Ktu, and Fresh are all playing current hit music, there are some differences but really the powers for these stations don't vary all that much, for example animals, all about that bass and rather be were hammered by each of these stations along with plj the lowest rated of the bunch. 80% of the music is exactly the same among 5 stations, that is way too much.

No "the best mix of the....." type imaging, the music will define to the listener what this station is. It needs to be down to earth, lots of quick listener testimonials. Along the lines of finally a station that plays your music. Not your mom's lite fm cbs fm, not your kids z100, this is your station.

yeah, you could listen to 5 stations on the area and not know which one is on until the djs came back on the air. I guess there are just not enough popular formats to spread things out due to advertisers running things.
and I would also like to ad, those listener testamonials need to be believable. there was a batch back in the 2000s where the people they talked to sounded scripted beyond belief or just plain bored.

well, someone here posted that change was coming in november.

I thought for SURE PLJ would blow up the whole show and fire everyone. instead, they just fired cooper, and supposedly Annie. No mention of sheila. and that producer fitz no one ever heard on air again back when I still listened.

All that press release says to me is 'Well, we thought we had the right people. WE spent the whole year building them up so you would get to like them..but apparently they sucked, so we are bringing in this NEW person you are sure to love more than the old new people you apparently hated.'

no wonder everyone left PLJ if the work enviroment was like that run by a company whose stock is barely worth 1 cent.

ahh, gotcha. anyone hear the CBS year end today?

I think more people heard todd in that sign on recap than his entire stint on plj solo...
