Re: q101
Look, me personally I would love for the New York market to have a legendary and sucessful Modern Rock station, like L.A. has 106.7 K-Rock.
While it's true that NYC is home to numerous cutting edge and mainstream Rock acts, it does not necessarily mean that Rock music is automatically guaranteed a successful spot on the FM dial. Look at the history of Rock music, namely British Rock music. some of the truly greatest Rock bands to ever emerge out of the UK (and the world) did so in the 60s. Then in the 70s the UK was home to some genius Progressive Rock bands. This despite the fact that the UK did NOT have a single Rock station in any city, not on the FM, and not on the AM dial.
I think that even if Rock were to disappear from the NYC dial for a while it would not spell the end of Rock. Perhaps it could lead to a rebirth of sorts.
You also should not conclude that David Eduardo is against you or against rock music. I wouldn't be surprised if the man had at one point programmed or consulted several Rock stations throughout Latin American. I always appreciate his input, b/c he tries to set his own personal feelings aside, and instead focuses on personal experiences, and on reliable/quoted ratings and trends sources.
It's great that you and others here share a passion for Rock music, you just gotta understand that the masses may not always share this deep passion of yours.
