WPRB now in HD...and with HD 2 spanish?

I will say this...I used my radio for home listening mostly and the selectivity was horrible as it seemed with some other home tuners. The Sony HD radio had the best selectivity and sensitivity by far, and is even better then some car radios. But, it is still affected with hissing and buzzing, so the HD channels make up for the tuner's strong points in some cases. WJBR even went HD this year, and I can no longer get 99.3 Kiss FM or 99.7 The breeze. The good thing about it is 99.3 is now streaming on the web, and the breeze was online longer I think.

Why would you want more IBUZ on 101.3 and 101.7? Townsquare can run their weekend classic hits format as an online station for years for less than the cost to downgrade 101.5 to HD.

'Cause not everyone has unlimited data or great cell coverage Nick.

BTW, you lose credibility every time you say "IBUZ" and refer to HD as a "downgrade." It gets old quick - if KTU loses significant numbers on M/S/U or Mon/Oc with WPRB in HD...I'll eat my hat.

And even fewer people have HD radios. I met exactly ONE person not in radio who had an HD radio in her car, and it's been over 8 years since HD radio launched. Yet I see that most people now have smartphones.

And I have to admit, there's one HD station I like, WPGC-HD2 in Washington DC (which I DXed in HD all the way in NJ a few weeks ago).

To b honest, when I got the defunct Zune HD, it wasn't for the HD aspect. But when I did check out the HD aspect, seemed to work fine dxing. I picked up Hot 100.5 from VA in my Long Branch apartment with that little thing. Even with other adjacent channels (remember shore alternative) I would still pick up PST as if I was in Trenton. Ben FM's HD2 channel came in and both PLJ and The Rat are in HD. I gotta check it out for myself and see how much KTU gets lost.

HD Radio was (and is) marketed horribly, and iBiquity isn't exactly a model corporation. Radio's are not viewed as entertainment devices, rather they are appliances that you replace when one breaks. iBiquity should have offered Visteon, Delphi and other OEM manufactures attractive licensing deals to get the units in the dash...y'know...like XM & Sirius did.

HD Radio is far from perfect....and so is analog AM (mono or stereo), or FM Stereo. I love my unlimited cell phone plan, and it will be pried from my cold dead hands. Others aren't so lucky...only Sprint offers a truly unlimited plan for new customers. And people bitch about how much Sprint 3G data sucks...and how horrible WiMAX is. AT&T/Verizon charge $10 per gig for overages...and they rack up quickly when you are streaming at a decent quality (128k).

HD has dropouts...so do cell phones. FM has multipath, and AM is a mess of electrical noise. I would have liked a digital system with its own band (like DAB), but we are where we are.
