So you are saying that a station that is making money and has ratings vs their competition & this guy is going to come in and change it just because he can!?! Makes no sense.Skynet74 said:Craig Schwalb has no local ties, so he's probably not going to feel any loyalty or favoritism towards the staff. He barely knows them. Thinking with his head and not his heart. I bet that program schedule gets blown up and the air staff is going to be caught in the explosion. This will be interesting to watch.

John, That may be the way it USED to run back in the 1960's-1980's; but as you don't to seem to want to grasp, things have changed. It is corporate first, revenue second and ratings third, everything else really comes into play minutely (unless there is criminal charges involved (ala Tanya)) because of those factorsSkynet74 said:Yes. That is exactly what I'm saying. I'm sure you've been involved with the industry long enough to know that these guys like to come in and do things their own way. It's not all that uncommon for programmers to make changes just for the sake of change. It's done on on both radio and Television every day.
Let me put it to you another way. Howard Stern wasn't fired from WNBC in 1985 because of ratings. The ratings were through the roof! He was fired because the president of WNBC was driving around in his car and didn't like what he heard one day.
This is all it takes. One guy in command who doesn't like you for one particular reason or another. Bang... You are out the door! It's not always about ratings. Have you ever heard the story of why Gilligan's Island was canceled? Here is another example just in case you don't know.
Gunsmoke" was cancelled because of its declining ratings, and "Gilligan's Island" was renewed for a fourth season. But someone's wife tied to a high level CBS executive got upset that "Gunsmoke" was being cancelled and threw a hissy-fit about it. There wasn't enough room on the '67-'68 CBS schedule as initially proposed to re-add "Gunsmoke" without another show being axed. "Gilligan's Island" was the show that got trimmed from the '67-68 CBS fall schedule.
So Gilligan's Island wasn't even canceled because of ratings. It was canceled because of a programmers WIFE.
That made no sense either!

Buddy brings in a fair amount of revenue based on he being on the station. Finest Car Wash, The Old Canteen, etc would not be as prominent (if on the station at all) if it wasn't for Buddy.BoredModerator said:Revenue may be good, but would it be just as good without Buddy and Ron? If so, then they'll risk a little revenue to increase profits.
