WPRO-AM names new program director

Beyond horrible taste. Bet Salty's looking down on this and shaking his head.

This is no longer our parents and grandparents WPRO. It's never going to be the way it used to be. But posting a picture of Obama as the joker after a bunch of people were just killed by a joker lookalike at a batman movie is just a brand new level of being an A-hole. Depetro took the word A-hole and raised it three bars. This is coming from a guy who always liked Depetro too. But there is no way I can defend him on this one.

Is it an actual controversy outside of this board? Also, not defending him, but by looking at the pic, it appears he 'liked' it but did not post it?

Who knows who is talking about it or who even cares. But even if he didn't post it, he does have the power to take it down. The fact that he "liked" it and left it there shows that he approves of it. That's not any better than posting it.

We've got to stop saying that, it's almost 20 years (and 4 owners) since it was Salty's station. Other than BRU, I don't think there is any station that is owned by same company or managed by same person.

I agree. Salty is out of the equation. It simply doesn't matter what Salty would think anymore. WPRO is no longer our parents radio station. It's 2012 and it's a different beast. The only thing that matters is what's going on now. WPRO is clearly the top radio station for News and Information in this state TODAY. They have weathered many storms, lots of rumors and yet still remain at the top of their game. It's amazing how they've held their staff together as well as they have for several years now. So far so good. However it's difficult for the staff of any station to not get nervous when there is a new Sheriff in town. Ultimately changes will happen. Hopefully nothing to drastic. But with new blood controlling things you can just never tell what to expect. By the end of the year we'll know what type of person the new PD is.

It's pretty easy for 630 to be number one in news/information if they're the only one in the race! 630 is number one BY DEFAULT, because....outside of RIPR....there's no real competition to speak of.

Like the old expression goes: "In the land of the blind.....the one eyed man is the King. ;)
