WPVI reception

I have not seen any posts lately about poor WPVI reception. Is it still poor? Is this because people use a uhf antenna to get a low band vhf channel? I have a friend who just moved to Toms River from Vorhees. In a Vorhees apartment he used an indoor amplified set of rabbit ears and then tried and fm antenna but reception was poor. Now he moves to Toms River....puts a small old ragged vhf antenna in the attic and so far his reception is good. The fcc site for digital tv reception shows WPVI should be one of the strongest stations in Toms River. He just barely gets some NYC tv even though Philly and NYC are both 60 miles away. Any thoughts? Did the small power increase of WPVI make a difference?
Problem is WABC 7 in NYC is like WPVI, still on vhf at their original channel with poor reception. Another friend in S Plainfield says WABC 7 comes in good in the mornng but is gone at 11am everyday. Why? He uses and indoor amplified set of rabbit ears.

WPVI is crystal clear during the morning hours before pixilating and fading to a non-viewable state in the early to mid-afternoon. On average, strong reception returns around the midnight hour. The daily pattern is persistent in all types of weather. I am about 37 miles from the transmitters.

Hardware Setup:
SolidSignal HD200XL Extreme Antenna, attic mounted 30-36 feet above ground level.
Winegard LNA-100 (booster amp); intended for interior use only, fixed 20 dB gain.
Winegard HDA-200 (distribution amp); FM trap and 18dB of adjustable gain. Delivers up to 24db gain.

I have the LNA-100 connected directly off of the antenna balun and use it as a pre-amp. Following the amp, there is the 75 feet of RG6 Coaxial cable run to the basement where COMCAST brings in their cable service. I disconnected the cable service and connected the antenna directly into an existing splitter that feeds two TV drops within the house.

Observations:
The total number of channels I receive is 61. All of the UHF and VHF channels that I am interested in receiving are crystal clear EXCEPT for channel 6.1 (ABC operating at 82-88 MHz, 37.6 miles) during the stated time-frame.

I also have an ATSC tuner that displays the signal strength of the selected channel (very helpful). A signal level of 60 or greater (out of 100) is required to receive a clear picture. When fading occurs, the channel 6.1 signal drops to a 35 level while ALL other channels in the same azimuth (60 degrees) remain between 80 and 100 yielding exceptional pictures.

I have spent months trying different antenna mounting positions in the attic, removing and inserting the amplifiers and adjusting the variable gain on the distribution amp during the fading periods. I have not been able to resolve the intermittent fading of WPVI.

This has been very frustrating over the past few months.
