Party 95.3 signed on in 1999 (forget the date, but it was 99) shortly after cox purchased the station. As stated above the station was never all dance, may have been a bit more than 50% dance as others stated above, but always had a decent amount of hip hop. it was molded after party 105 on Long Island which signed on a year earlier in 1998. In fact "Vic the Latino" now at KTU played a major role in the sound Party 95.3 and he came to the party directly from Party 105 on LI
______________

"S.O.S(Rescue Me)" I would consider a dance song. I wouldn't consider the other two dance songs, though I can understand the argument.

We're still getting posters on here who state that it was never a 'Pure Dance' station, so I must have caught it on one of their 'Pure Dance' weekends in 2002. Ironically some state that it was (at best) only a 50% dance station while others state that - NO - it was more than 50% at the start. We'd probably all agree that it was a pretty good station back in its early days (despite its whisper of a signal).

Are you referring to MY chart or another chart ? Are you one of my loyal fans ?

YES - I miss my own 'Pure Dance Chart'. It was a cool era for my web site.

I think that's when I heard it the same time too. I guess it's all solved now.

Yeah, your chart. When it was dance it was pretty good.
______________

All solved. Allow me to put a suitable nightcap on this interesting discussion that I started a few days ago by stating that Orlando's '95.3-PARTY' (1999-2004) was never a 'Pure Dance Station', but perhaps it was at one time a 'Mostly Dance Station' (according to a few on here) or even a 'Half Dance Station' (according to a few more on here). I think that we all agreed that we wish that it were still around.

I get a lot of comments like that - particularly from Europe. A lot of my loyal fans were sad to see it go, but then I gained a lot of new loyal fans when I flipped the format over to CHR-POP.

I still add dance hits occasionally to the MASSIVE Memories (my Hall-Of-Fame). For example on this week's edition (online now) you'll find that I added "The Real Thing" from The World Wide Message Tribe and "Can U Feel It" from 3rd Party. I'm adding a few more dance hits to this weekend's hot new edition. It's the least I can do for my loyal (dance) fans !

Re: WPYO ORLANDO dancin (back then)

I remember going to Disneyworld back in 2001, and I heard pure dance on 95.3. I was only 12 years old then. I recently went to Disneyworld again last month, and I missed 95.3 Party. Maybe it could dance again on its HD2, since I heard IBOC hash on 95.3.
______________

We must all have 2 very different view points of what Pure Dance means. When I think of a Pure Dance Station, I think of Party 93.1 in Miami... I Never heard ORIGINAL Hip-Hop edits on that station.. Hip-Hop remixes YES, but not original Hip-Hop edits... 95.3 Party in Orlando had ALWAYS played ORIGINAL Hip-Hop edits.. which is not Pure Dance. 95.3 Party was a CHR-RHY Dance Leaning station... never a Pure Dance station.

Heavy on Dance... JayLo, Fat Joe, D-12, Busta, Fabolous, Jay-Z, NSync, Ludacris, Ashanti, etc all in the playlist.... and I remember them being Original edits... not Dance edits :)

In fact... I still remember them using this sweeper: Hip-Hop, Dance, and Romance. The Beat of Orlando......

Without a doubt, my all time favorite station to listen to.
