WQMF is sounding great today!

TFX still plays Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Alice IC, Metallica, and RHCP. There is no reason they cannot both play U2.

Personally, I don't think there's a reason either station needs to play U2 at all. Neither station's audience is sitting by the radio keeping their fingers crossed for the next U2 spin. No offense meant, but U2, Talking Heads, REM and The Police don't seem to fit with the direction QMF is headed. They didn't test very well here 20 years ago. I can't imagine it getting any better for them. Sure there's always exceptions to that, but if it was me and I had to choose between playing that one REM song that might fit and a Skynyrd song that WILL fit, I'm playin' the Skynyrd :) Classic Rock seems to be dividing into separate sections. And why not? We have 40 years of stuff that could qualify as classic rock. One man's classic rock is another man's classic pop. I've been working on a Male AC format. Some people would call IT classic rock. (Note: this format is for my mp3 player, hehe, but it was fun creating) It's all about the evolution, baby! Good job on the book, guys. Keep up the good work.

Just like the alternative format went into seperate directions with the rise of active rock mixed with alternative music and on some stations in different markets mixed with indie rock.

The fox unless they have done so need to get rid of the preimium choice crap now!!!I refuse to listen unless they do that!!!

every station must grow and refocus to stay alive. It's QMF's time and this is the right direction. We just added a bunch a cuts just a few weeks back and yes there will be more. We're always looking, watching and asking especially via facebook. Those are passionate P1's. I can tell from most of your posts we're just not going to make you happy and that's fine. We're not out to make everyone happy..just the most people. It'll always be a work in progess as it should be.

Hey Rig. What's the latest?

Looks like several adds have been made today. More like "re-adds" rather than adds. Finally, see where U2, The Clash, Guess Who, Frampton, ELO, Don Henley have all been played since midnight, according to yes.com. Looks like I don't have to change channels after Bob and Tom today.
The best thing is that I see where the 90's artists are still getting played. Very nice. I hope they keep "re-adding" and "adding."
It will be interesting to see if they bring all of their artists back or just a few or a few at a time. Still waiting to see if Elton John, Billy Joel, Talking Heads, REM, and others get re-added. Great start non-the-less.

You're right Pokercho. Some great adds from QMF. I also hope they keep adding more. SFR will always get the people who just want the same "hits". Let QMF keep expanding the playlist. Lou Reed also got a spin on the Q. According to Yes.com, SFR's playlist is just about unchanged, expect for "Open Arms" by Journey. That really makes me want to crank it up loud. lol

Yeah, something strange is going on. They may be testing songs at night. I went back and looked at their playlist this week from the hours of 12am-5am. It is much different from the rest of the hours. Lenny Kravitz, U2 including Beautiful Day (that's a song from this century!), Talking Heads, Dire Straits, Jethro Tull, Lou Reed, Kinks, and many others not played on qmf in quite some time. Interestingly, still no Bruce Springsteen. I am not a big fan, but seems like a classic rock station without Springsteen is not a real classic rock station.
Funny thing I noticed too, was that they brought back two-for-Tuesday. But only for the early morning hours. Maybe they are cost cutting and using a national broadcast similar to TFX for those hours.

last week both SFR & QMF were playing "Nothing But a Good Time" by Poison at the same time. I guess that makes them both the biggest loser. When I'm not listening to CD's I find myself listening more to WAKY, WVEZ on the weekends for the 80's and CFZM AM740 for the standards.

I'm doing the same thing plus googling to find replays of Casey Kasem's American Top 40-- the 70s!

I know, and I do listen to it, but I can catch it online from 6am Saturday til 3am Monday!

Looks like the new songs are being gradually worked into the regular day's playlist.

I see that SFR beat QMF by 1.4 points in the latest ratings. Glad to see I wasn't the only one turned off by QMF's tightened playlist.

Now that they are bringing back good music again, I hope they continue to add and bring back songs. And as a result, I hope their ratings tick back up.

I've heard Sweet Home Alabama on WQMF a couple of time lately. I think it's funny how they edit the "god-d**n'' at the end. I never heard that song edited even back when it came out and was played on WAKY and WKLO!

All these edits were forced by CC Corporate. They even made some of their own edits to protect us all from being offended. I feel much more safe when I listen to CC now ;)

good thing they didn't keep Q FM 96 here in Columbus when WNCI and WCOL became available to buy. We'd be enduring that too.
