WQRT RealTalk/Furman factor

On the JC McCoy question, he's doing a great job at Cincy commandos games and still has a private business of some sort.
Has anyone heard this new "Interruption Factor"? Seems Furman is on his 4th cohost now with this "kid" character, Jahred Klezzmer or somebody.
He got rid of jc Mcoy and then had the producer on, Rick, and now hes gone to this "kid" and Rick jumps in when he can.
I thought it was the Furman show?? You can't even hear one guy over the other, total rookie stuff, it's like college radio auditions. Weak.
And even thought it's staying light longer the signal at QRT fades everyday at 6:10 pm. ??????
Seems this is just amateur radio hour gone crazy. Anyone know who/what/ is going on? It's like the only callers are Bagel Guy and even Glenn from mason doesn't call in anymore.
How long will this last before the cohost is axed?

Hey Darius, you'd be wise to keep off these boards, as the more you write the foolish you look:
WQRT is 5,000 watts through 8:30 pm.
As for the "co-hosts", the show is the Furman Factor -- as for the "previous" co-hosts...do some research...JC was canned as a "salesman" at the radio station -- that's a fact....I even heard Furman was upset as he "brought" JC to the place...
This J Keezard kid is an intern and I understand won't return until the summer.
Now as for guests, I checked the website, Furman's website: he's had Pete Rose, Barry Larkin, Oscar Robertson, Sean Payton, all the local college coaches, Bobby Knight, PJ Carlesimo, and more...who else gets those national names in thos town?

The Kid, as he is known now is a family friend of Furman. He is a rabbi's son from Sycamore HS, now attending OSU. He used to be on Furman's show when he was on FM. I think he also was a stats geek for Lance before that.

I am not sure if he is an intern, yet as he was calling in from OSU and then reporting from Reds camp while on college spring break. His goal is to break into the sports talk business which is a fine goal but as a listener, I don't care about his career at this point.

While he is a bright kid in some ways, I think he detracts from the show's professionalism. While I know the format switch was the reason Furman lost his FM gig, as a big Furman fan, I think using this young man hurt the show and caused me to turn if off from time to time. I did not want to listen to a 16 year old, now 18 year old pontificate about sports and life especially when his eastern polictics and fear of anything outside a big city crept into his comments.

I believe that Andy has a blind side about this kid and it almost like he knows this new gig won't make it so he might as well take care of this family friend before the show ends. Perhaps budget considerations enter into it as well.

If you need a sidekick, get one but please don't subject us to a show about the Kid when we tuned in for Furman.

Mole...before you start casting people off the board, you should do some research of your own.

1160 is 5000 watts until 7:45, but with the change in the weather these days, that signal gets choppy north of I-275 much earlier. I have a hard time in NE Hamilton County at 6:15, so that doesn't matter. Once the climate stabilizes for Spring, things should be better.

As for the amateur sound of the station, I have to agree. Sorry JRY, but it's so inconsistent and there's no real image. It's all over the place. Imaging is very bad. You need a real good big-market voice and a consistent theme. It's just not standing out at all. I like the morning show, but I can see how it's not real popular. I can't get it up here for the first part of morning drive anyway, but I would really try to listen if you had Imus. He used to be on that station when it was BOB and he got respectable cume. I like Laura Ingraham, but Noon to 2 you may as well go off the air. How do you expect to compete with Willie and Rush with Neal Boortz? Nothing against Boortz, but you should put Dr. Laura on live at noon. That's counter-programming the Republican guys. Or, run Ramsey Noon to 3 and Furman 3 to 6. Just some ideas. After the evening rush hour, it doesn't matter. You should run paid programming. It's Reds baseball on AM from here on out at night.

JC, by the way, is back working at a certain Oldies station from what I hear.

Thanks for the comments, btw...
Just between you and me....
We are stuck with Neal until July..... In some markets he beats Rush, I have seen the Arb. so, you gotta give it a try. Dr. Laura is not live at noon. I always like to default to live programming wherever and whenever possible.

Well as bad as you make this Real Talk station to be, I, for one love listening to Furman...his rants...his guests...his opinions....by far he's the standard for sports talk in the marketplace..maybe he should be on from 4-7? Finally, someone with a pair of onions, and no one to challenge him...who is his, gulp, competition? Mo Egggers>? A UC blowhard with no real life experiences and Lance a stat geek who talks about TV shows and weather gals...ugh.

Don't you love a situation where a host can speak the truth, without being vulgar or violating a license issue, and not worry about a sports team getting their poor little feelings hurt.
Case in point....
Up in Detroit, when the Matt Millen (Detroit Lions) deal hit the fan and the fans were going nuts, Jim Brandstatter would speak his mind about how bad the team was. Well, don't ya know that he was banished from the deal. Bill Ford Sr. wasn't man enough to hear the truth about his team.
Then they started having folks kicked out of games for the "fire millen and matt sucks" signs.

The fans went more nuts. Brandstatter is back and speaking his mind.
Now, they just need a winning team.

JRY..I've often felt Furman was too big for the Cincy market...he's got attitude as well as personality and sports knowledge -- and an array of national contacts for guests...he should be on 3-6 or 4-7...and probably should be syndicated.

Furman is great and had a very long run here, as long time listeners know.

I hope he catches on here. Maybe it takes time but with no ad campaign, I suspect a lot of his loyal fan base is unaware that he is back on the radio.

His guest list is second to none even compared to the national guys.

I know it will be tough to fight the Reds broadcasts when there is a conflict.

Being that we are in the Satellite business, we have the tools to take this national.

Well, there are 25 billboards out now with his face on them......

Guess I need to alter my way home at night!

I have not seen one yet.

Glad they are up.

No. He is a rabbi's son. Went to Sycamore HS. Now he is at OSU.

Karras or something close to that.

Furman's adopted boys go to school in NKY. High school age now.

Naw, just listened over the years and Andy has talked about his family.

I know of The Kid from something outside radio.

Digital board on 71. Surface boards all over the place. Mostly within the loop.
Look for a no nonsense guy with a cigar.

Are you sure you're thinking of the right guy? I know some of the folks who work at the station....I think you're thinking of someone different.

From what I hear The Kid doesn't even work there...in fact I listened today and it was super -- Furman had Bob Huggins and his assistant Eric Martin, the former UC player...great conversation with Terry Nelson too....
