Resurrecting an old topic, but wanted to mention a few things. First, still liking what I am hearing on 1270 for the most part ... outside of whatever this new afternoon talk show is. Was driving up toward Upper Arlington yesterday and heard some guy just ranting on and on about an email he received for about 20 minutes. Just kept going. Anyone know anything about this? I haven't been able to find info, but probably just looking in the wrong place.
Luckily, I tuned back later and there was music. I was really afraid for a few minutes that the format had changed.
Also, wanted to throw a reception report on here ...
Was driving back a week ago yesterday morning from Zanesville down U.S. 40 and figured I'd listen to see how the battle went between WQTT and Cambridge's WILE. WILE and its ESPN Radio programming are dominant in Zanesville, of course, but by the time you hit the Muskingum-Licking County line, you can hear WQTT starting to creep in underneath. Within five miles (think around mile marker 137 or 138 on I-70, to which I was driving parallel), it was quite a fight. WQTT's strength increases rapidly, and by the time I hit Jacksontown, neither station was listenable but I was able to hear "You Didn't Have to be So Nice" by the Lovin' Spoonful on WQTT. By Hebron, four miles west of Jacksontown, it was all WQTT with only an occasional fade in signal. WILE was underneath, but not at all listenable.
Here where I live, right by 256 and 70, it's much the same situation as in Hebron, except WQTT is stronger and there's still the slightest trace of WILE.
For my part, I'm just glad WQTT never reverted to that old day pattern where you couldn't hear it in Columbus at all.
