Yeah, you might not want to assume... you know what assuming does, right? Turns out, "Old Pros" might not exactly fit the bill here. I am a 24 year old, college grad... I have degrees in Radio-Television-Film and Computer Information systems, and I currently work as an engineer in a market outside of Alabama. Pro? Yes... Old? no!
I don't claim to know all the programming in's and out's, but I do know a fraud when I see one, and I see one on this board.
I guess you thought that because I spoke with such authority about this situation that I must be an old fogey in this industry... a product of the money hungry corporate ladder that i'd been climbing for years and have all the company lines memorized.
Yes, I do work for a large corporate entity. It's a great gig with a great company (Which gives away that it's not CC, HaHa! Just kidding!) I am doing this as an addition to my formal education. Let me tell ya, as someone who has been in this industry in some fashion for about 9 years (yep do the math.. i was 15 when I started) that You my friend don't get it. Period.
I've touched every aspect of this beast except sales, which I have worked closely with. If you had any idea what you were talking about you wouldn't be going around slamming the latest transitions at WRAX and Citadel Bham. Obviously there had to be some reasoning for a big MONEY MAKING company like Citadel to make the moves they did.
So, GotRock. What say you? Can you defend yourself with a strong and logical argument or are you still sulking that Radio doesn't behave like your IPOD. Let me assure you that the odds of you getting an Arbitron diary are slim to none. Most people never see one. Even if you did get one, you are just one guy who has his panties in a wad.
If you want a jukebox that only plays those things you wish, might I suggest one of the many IPOD or MP3 players availible.
If you think sat radio is so great... lets see what the public says.

Hmm... 80 percent of the population is not even interested in what XM and Sirius has to offer? I wonder how that compares to the number of people who have AM/FM sets?
Some day, gotrock.. you might just get it.
