WRKOLD Sues Howie

Cary Pahigian is carr's agent ? Same guy who did his best to bring down WBZ Radio in the 80's?
Guess you are known by the company you keep.

To mention Jerry Williams name and allude to Howie Carr in the same post is enough to make the Dean spin in his grave since his daughters will tell you they believe Carr helped put their father there !

Casablanca... your comments about Cary P were totally out of left field (considering the subject matter)... and a nasty swipe at that -- for what reason we may never know ... nor do we really care ... in fact – looks like you're having a bad day cause all of your recent posts are just snarly. Damn - what a pathetically sad life you must have. BTW: Dave Maynard still says that Cary was the best PD that ever walked through the door at Soldiersfield Rd… and “heartfelt Dave” saw a few of ‘em. But back to the original post: it would have been truly sad if RKO just rolled over and played dead… frankly, I’m surprised that it took them so long to move on this. I would imagine that Howie's vacation will extend long into the new year while they try to hammer this whole thing out. I'm willing to bet that as with all talent contracts, there's a first right of refusal clause for WRKO - wouldn't ya think?

Believe Cary is the same dude who fired David Brudnoy at WBZ until he himself got fired.

Believe he went to the Cape and screwed up there.

Any chance both WRKO and Howie Carr can lose in court and do the world a favor?

right of first refusal can only work for so long, can it not? How many times has RKO put a right of first refusal clause in the contract. At some point can the Plaintiff/Defendant Carr call it slave labor? (not at 800 large). Can we get the real figures of his pay out into the open, including the "mailing in" of his Herald column?

Can you keep an employee forever by matching the numbers? 60$ a share for the Wall Street Journal, do we hear $70.00 a share from RKO for Carr?

Whoaaa...Cary Pahigian is a first class guy. And I don't believe he is Howie's agent.

It was in the Globe that he is Howies agent. (You still don't believe it?)

RE: "Cary Pahigian is a first class guy." There are many people who would disagree with you. Although, I think most of those people are from the early part of Pahigian's career.

He was probably too young, inexperienced and immature for the positions he held in radio.

He's a little older, wiser and mellower these days...

And again, isn't he the idiot who fired David Brudnoy from WBZ Radio and it took a new PD to bring David back months later after that horrendous mistake.

And AGAIN - your comment about Cary was completely out of nowhere. It had nothing to do with the subject at hand... If ya got a problem with Cary, go bitch about him on the Northern New England board... Jesus - your meaningless rants get tiresome.

wasn't it David Bernstein (now at Air America) who figured we'd want Tom Snyder's syndie show (RIP, Tom)
instead of Bruds...?

Yes Raccoon, it was David Bernstein.

I guess you have a better understanding of Boston Radio than Yov...err...Cassablanca!

If you are coming to Casablanca for the waters at least spell it correctly. ;)

Having worked for Cary Pahigian during his early years at WGAN, I got to thinking about how many of us often forget the good stuff that a PD does for a radio station? Instead...we concentate on who got fired and how a format that might have been successful was suddenly yanked in favor of one that bombed BIG TIME!

While I certainly had my differences at times with Mr. P...I think his early programming ideas (for the most part) were pretty good? Granted WGAN and WBZ are considerably different in market size...but it takes a person with a little self-confidence to put his job on the line in order to expose a radio audience to something different?

So I'll applaud Cary P for that.

I'll keep my mouth closed when it comes to his treatment of certain staff members....regardless of whether they happened to be big stars or just supporting players who somehow managed to do a professional job in spite of what might have been discussed behind closed doors ! ::)

Corrections: Yes, turns out Cary is Howie's agent. And someone had the Brudnoy thing wrong: Cary HIRED Brudnoy and was a close friend of his. He did NOT fire Brudnoy.

Pahegian was fired by WBZ.

I'd love to know what Casablanca's stake in all of this is. Based on his almost daily (and sometimes multiple) posts about Carr, either there is some personal interest or he has a really sharp axe to grind.
