Re: WROC -Status Quo
Perhaps the teleprompter was also malfunctioning the night the anchor pronounced the word mischief: Miss-Chief.
Look I am the last person on Earth to be critical of people making mistakes. I've made so many on-air gaffes in my life I gave up counting. However we are talking here about TV not radio. In radio normally it's a one-man-band. In a TV operation a station should have proof-readers besides the reporter or on-air anchor.
My question, despite the sarcasm from the former King of Egypt, was a legitimate one. Who monitors what goes out on the air at 31 and 8? And if mistakes are made, does anyone point them out to the offender?
Phillip Dampier said:This is straight out of the News Central School of Journalism. In what story would Ben Franklin be casually mentioned as a president of the United States on a local newscast I have to ask? As for a coop-de-ta, I can only hope it was a teleprompter read error and the person didn't actually believe it was pronounced that way.
