WROR to continue with Xmas music after 12/25?

I just heard a promo saying that the weekend after Christmas, they will be "easing back into" their normal Classic Hits format. It means that if you request a Christmas song, they'll play it, if they hadn't put it back up in the attic. Can anyone here confirm this?

If that's what the promo said, then that's what they are doing.

But really, who f*cking cares?

Today WMWM is on automation and doing all Christmas/holidays; in a given set you might hear
B.B. King from "A Christmas Celebration of Hope", a new age version of "Carol of the Bells",
and the Jingle Cats' rendition of "Go Tell It On The Mountain" (as Family Guy's "cat lawyer"
Meowsy McDermott would say, You Gotta Be Kitten Me! Ha!)

I hit their preset all day, and got their usual play list. I did catch one Spector Christmas Album selection, on "Leftovers" Day. That was it.

I was listening briefly tonight on the drive home while scanning the dial. About 9:30ish, they played Feliz Navidad by Jose Feliciano. I shuddered, said Adios Jose, and switched to Oldies 103 for a short time. Oldies sounded fantastic but I don't think I heard a dj during the time I listened.

And WROR has the leftover Christmas songs (and 'Boston's Holiday Music Station') mentioned on their website.

Magic still has their all-Christmas channel listed on their website. It's available until New Year's Day.

Mauzy Stafford has been on Oldies tonight. They do have a promo on their website for a Tom Kent special on New Year's Eve. I wonder if they're waiting until after this Top 500 Countdown is over to bring back his weeknight show, or if (hopefully) Patrick Callahan is back for good.

That would be interesting if they brought Tom Kent's show back and where they would put him. I wasn't impressed with it during it's short time before the flip.

Lost 45's also returns to Oldies this Sunday night according to Lost45.com.

I am only assuming that all (or most) regular programming will now be back in place this weekend including Mighty Mike's 70s show (what's he been doing the last 7 weeks?), AT40/70s, Wolfman, etc.

WROR seemed to play a little more variety so it seemed than Oldies did. It was nice hearing "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" again last night. ;)

Mighty Mike was back last night and sounded great. I listened for an hour or so while driving home. He kept saying "Welcome back" and "We're back" and "We're here for a long long long time" which means probably until next November 4th or so. ;D

Casey is back this morning with AT40/70s (10am-noon) where he is counting down the Top 40 of whatever year it is. The full 3 hour show should air tonight after Lost 45s. I assume Wolfman was on overnight last night but I wasn't listening.

Yes, I caught a little bit of the Wolfman Jack show last night.

It will be good to hear both The Lost 45's and Casey Kasem back on the air again as well.

Could it be we've stumbled on a new format?

All Dead-All The Time!

Play nothing but songs from those who've passed on AND
hosted by dead radio people. ;)

**SPOILER** for #1 song of 1971

According to Casey, the #1 song for 1971 was:

Joy To The World by Three Dog Night

Hope I didn't spoil it for anyone but I warned you beforehand. ;D

Happy New Year :p :D

You mean I still have time to hear 'Dominic the Christmas Donkey' a few more times....oh joy...I haven't met my 500 times every Christmas quota ;)

Unfortunately, I don't think they're planning on having an evening jock on the payroll in the long run after these seasonal special features end, so Kent will probably be back on evenings. I hope I'm wrong, though.

re: All dead all the time, some station, maybe WZLX or someone else in New England, I forget, had some kind of Halloween weekend "theme" where they played all artists who'd passed on.

I know that the late Vinnie Perruzzi used to have a "Disco Heaven" show every February (Pro Bowl night) on Star (now Mike) where he played artists who passed on (plus groups where at least one member has done likewise) - I should've known that it was a harbinger of what was to come.
