WROR, WODS, WZLX

wzlx - heart's "magic man"Wror - Jim Croce "Operator"Wods - the Eagles, Take It Easy talk about passe. Those 3 songs simultaneously on the above referenced stations early evening on Monday - no escape from mediocre radio. And no - XM and Sirius are not the answer. The Public Airwaves should be chock full of good things to hear not the same old same old and terrible commercials. No wonder the kids have tuned into MySpace - there's so much free music - a lot of it pretty great. Can't wait for the computer to be in the car radio - millions of choices instead of The Eagles, Jim Croce and Heart.

So true. How many mornings am I going to hear "This Will Be" by Natalie Cole at 9:00 on my way into work?Nice song, but the repetition is a drag.Come on, people, we need some VARIETY.

maybe we need a Mike/Jack/Frank-type station for oldies/classic rock only, one with REAL variety...the "oh wow" factor. Kind of like how when Mike first came on the air I'd hear something like the 1 hit wonder "Sausolito Summernights" by Diesel (1981); the type of songs Barry Scott calls Lost 45s, or maybe Lost Album Tracks, or just plain variety, variety, variety. As I've said before, Unchained Melody was a great tune but how about something different for a change? That's right, the consultants say no. Though in the case of WODS they do have features like Lost 45s,Beatles at 10, and the Thu night countdown where you'll hear something you don't normally hear (like, say,the full version of Theme From Shaft)Why is it that they play the same 3 or 4 tunes by Kinks, Turtles, etc.--no variety. Oh well--and they wonderwhy people check out satellite radio; buy Ipods/mp3 players etc.

Darn. ROR was playing "Operator" and I missed it. I love that song but I am too embarassed to buy the CD in the store, less the pimple-face kid behind the counter laughs at me, so I just ask when the new Taylor Hicks CD is due in.

Those three songs could have all been on the air at the same time in 1976. It's amazing to me that people still care about them thirty years later. It's not that the songs are bad, just tired.Paul

Dreamboat Annie instead of "Magic Man"One Less Set of Footsteps or Workin' At The Carwash Blues insteadof "Operator"James Dean or Victim of Love instead of "Take It Easy"I wouldn't flip the dial if one of those songs came on.

Dream Boat Annie was a stiff????Bite your tongue. There's more to Heart than Barracuda and Magic Man.And there's more to the Pretenders than Brass in Pocket. I love Chrissy, but if I hear that song one more time I'm gonna hurl. How about some Mystery Achievement or Precious?Mike-oldies format sounds like a plan to me.

I don't really find ZLX's music to be that repetitious & I don't think they concentrate on just the same old tired songs. There's a limit as to how deep you can go. Oldies 103 may be more limited but they're still not as restrictive as some. As far as WROR I agree their music is the equivalent of being in a sensory deprivation tank but I don't think they or Oldies 103 are catering to the MP3, Ipod, or download generation.

You have no idea what you are talking about! ZLX has dug it's own rut while OLDIES continues to grow into ZLX/ROR's space. CCR? Is it classic rock or oldies. Oldies seems to have embraced them, but classic rock won't let go because they have no where to go. Let us hope this is the beginning of the end for the format!

Joe, on behalf of the program directors, please accept our sincere apology. We can't believe we actually thought about putting together a playlist without the supervision of Joe. Our bad!

at this point, Infidel, I would take someone from OUT OF THE MUSIC BIZ (like yourself) to program a station.Consultant driven radio is one big con...or is it yaaaawwwwwwnnnnnPatrick Callahan playing the old Top 40 playlists makes for better radio than what we are forced to hear -those of us who can't get AM 1430 and some good Progressive talk, that is.

"Out of the music biz like youreself?"......Joe: believe me you're about as far outside of the music business as a man can get. A guy who empties quarters out of coin boxes of jukeboxes in the fried dough parlors at Salisbury beach is more in the music business than you are. If you want progressive talk etc why dont you get sirius? tthey have sirius left and out Q (gay left leaning talk), Im sure Xm has similar programming as well..... why not get sat rather than constantly bitching about the same four stations over and over again?. Then you can spew your warped and dated critiques of everything under the sun on the sattelite board.

Hey - those are my quarters in the Pac Man machine up there at the beach - where I am filming my 60's movie.Nik - if you go to digital download sites you'll find your favorite artist...moi! I know you're not hip enough to realize the music biz has moved to the web ... and all my classic albums are being restored with bonus tracks! But we still have them in the regular storefronts for those who purchase traditional formats.Every time you post you make the birthday boy so proud. Not.

Check out 95.9 WATD in Marshfield. They play tons of lost classics by Croce, Heart and The Pretenders on a regular basis. Plus the weekends are filled with classic oldies from the 50s & 60s.

Yeah Im sre the Count is beating out Beyonce on Itunes. You silly, ugly little monkey. ;D ;D PS./Ok JOe here it is: You and I have been at it on this very board for years now, and now Im in New York and you're still doing your Wayne's World cable access show yet you're still trying to say im a failure which makes sense to no one but you!. Nobody else here cares enough about either of us to sit through our barbs at one another. So I propose a truce, you've been bad mouthing me for YEARS and it has had zero effect on me, but I'll give you a pass and forgive you.....so why dont you knock it off? and if so I agree not to make fun of your age, your music, your writing, your music, your posts, your music, your cable show, or your music anymore.....UNLESS you directly insult ME again at which time I of course will respond, I dont back down from anyone you know this. SO if you wantt to continue to try to be tedious and attempt to insuylt mme here with no effect on me, you're welcomee to it. However if you're man enough to squash the beef (publicly at least) I give you my word that i will not bad mouth you unless you crap on me again, an example being your responding to Paul Marshall by saying "like a friend of yours makes fun of Orleans" ytou had no cause to even bring me into that discussion, yet you did. So what's it going to be? are you man enough? or do I continue to make you look silly forever?. Enough already, squash the beef and Ill behave.......i think that's pretty big of me considering all of the thinsg you've written about me over the years, devoting web sites to bashing me etc,......I mean what have you gotten out of it?.....nothing, you're still where you were this time ten years ago, and Ive moved on....................Enough already be a man.

After all your self-promotion and trolling, I *STILL* have no friggin idea who you are! I don't think I am alone. From what I can gather here, you are (1) Old (2) Argumentative (3) Not well liked in the radio biz. Not a combo that has me combing the web for downloads.

That web page is a wreck, bad picture, text too small and too much of it. Hire a usability consultant.OK I've skimmed it and I still haven't heard of Joe Viglione. ;-)
